It’s time to take back our future and put public resources in the hands of people who will serve not exploit. Mr. @ifesalakooffice for Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos. Leadership must be about accountability, transparency and real development for the people. Enough of recycled failure, this is the moment to choose competence and integrity. Nigeria will be OK with the right people in leadership positions.

It takes a true leader, a father, someone with emphathy to understand that competitive kids need a spectator, a role model & unfettered encouragement, even for a brief second. That's what happened during a stopover on @PeterObi's way to Ibadan earlier today. A New Nigeria is Possible.

African Democratic Congress
IBADAN DECLARATION Communiqué issued at the end of Opposition Political Parties National Summit held on Saturday April 25, 2026 in Ibadan, Oyo State. Participating Opposition Parties in Nigeria, after an extensive deliberation on the collective threats that we face and the existential challenges facing our country under the stranglehold of the oppressive and anti-democratic All Progressives Congress (APC) and given the need for urgent, collective action to rescue our nation and the destiny of over 200 million compatriots, hereby resolve as follows: 1. That we shall resist all machinations by the APC to foist a one-party State on Nigeria and fight for the survival of multi-party democracy in our country. 2. That despite the onslaughts and manoeuvrings of the ruling party, the APC to impose President Bola Tinubu as the sole Presidential candidate in 2027; we shall field candidates and contest the 2027 Presidential and other elections. 3. That we shall work towards fielding one Presidential Candidate for the 2027 elections, which shall be agreed and supported by all participating opposition parties to rescue our nation and her long suffering masses. 4. That the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, having shown bias and partisanship in favour of the ruling APC, should not conduct the 2027 general elections as Nigerians across board have lost confidence in him and his capacity to guarantee the required neutrality to deliver free, fair, transparent and credible elections. His continuous stay in office is vexatious and capable of triggering wide spread crisis in our nation. 5. That the National Assembly should immediately review the Electoral Act, 2026 to remove all sections that threaten the sanctity and integrity of the elections and run counter to constitutional provisions. 6. That all leading politicians that are being detained or harassed on bailable offfences be released with immediate effect and allowed to exercise their fundamental rights of participation and inclusivity as Nigerians. 7. That we consider the recent guidelines released by the INEC as obstacles, deliberately engineered to impose conditions and deadlines on the opposition parties. We therefore demand that INEC extends the deadline for primaries till the end of July, 2026. 8. The Summit commends Nigerians for their resilience and readiness to work with Opposition Parties to free our nation from State capture. 9. The National summit of Opposition Political Parties thank the Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State for hosting the epochal event. SIGNED: Chairmen of Participating Opposition Parties.

And so it begins. This man is lethal, this is why they fear him. No Nigerian politician (dead or alive) has accomplished this. I fear for his safety, & I hope his security takes note. This is the famous Mokola under bridge in Ibadan. This man is Revolution from the ground up. He is ‘The History of First.’ What was thought to be impossible is now possible. He turned the politics in Nigeria on its head. He has achieved the unthinkable. He turned ‘big man politics' to 'retail politics.’ This is his famous 'Street Walk.' This man is a Mobile Billboard. He is utterly & genuinely loved by all. His popularity cuts across tribes, tongues, & religions. Forget Twitter noise, this is the Heir Apparent. This is the heartbeat of Yoruba land. The Ancient Oyo Empire could not hold back their joy. An August Visitor came to town. Then he decided to bathe himself in Glory by doing what others won’t dare to do. This is the moment of truth. When popularities are tested & hearts are broken. This was an unscheduled visit, no announcements were made. His constituency is the street. He was made in the street. Nothing could ever hold him back from his Constituency. They made him & he honors them. This is a Conservatorship, that of a father & his children. This arrangement proceeds from a loving father & his children. He came down from the vehicle, & broke the barricade. He broke established security protocol, & met his children head- on. There is no honor greater than that. He likes to be seen, he has the ‘Street Credibility’ to prove it. He is not afraid to test his popularity. I enjoy the way & the manner he is being underestimated. We’ve been here before. 2023 is playing out before our eyes once more! But this time? Things are different! The North, the East, the South, & the West have come to warm up to him. Despite all their gimmicks, the man's national appeal or acceptability has doubled. He has remained the people's first choice. He knows how to present himself to the masses. In fact, he bathes in it. He is a showstopper. He is not afraid to meet Nigerians on the street. Everyone knows who he is. This is the man that should headline your Coalition. He locks down Lagos & makes inroads into the South West. Kwankwaso locks down the Ancient city of Kano & the Coalition locks down NE/NW. He locks down SE/SS, & smashes ballots in NC. The ADC goes home & dry, everyone goes home happy. Like a ‘triumphant entry,' he entered the city of Ibadan & bathe himself in glory once more. There is nothing quite like him. He is more popular than he ever was. Obi is no longer a boy, he has grown so much. This is not the Labour man everyone knew in 2023. The man on everyone's lips, his 'Rite of Passage' is complete. In a free & fair election? He will beat Bola Ahmed Tinubu before 10 in the morning. A New Nigeria is indeed POssible. 👏👏

We left Lagos for Ibadan by 6am for the opposition conference, but on the way, we ran into a large crowd of excited supporters. As always, Peter Obi stepped out to greet them.

Troubling Developments from the citadel of learning. The reason Universities are regarded as an ivory tower is because its seen as centres for pure, isolated intellectual thought. It's therefore worrisome when they are increasingly pressured to operate outside this norm. Today, I was scheduled to be at Obafemi Awolowo University at 9am prompt to deliver a keynote lecture, before proceeding to Ibadan for the opposition parties' political summit scheduled to commence at 12noon. The invitation was extended to me several months ago, and adequate preparations had been made. Regrettably, I received the news that the event would no longer be held in the University as planned. While such occurrences may be dismissed in isolation, it is important to state clearly that this has now happened more than ten times. This is no longer incidental; it points to a troubling pattern that should concern all well-meaning Nigerians. My alma mater, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was not excluded. The family of one of the renowned UNN Vice Chancellor late Professor Frank Ndili had planned an annual lecture on his behalf and the inaugural lecture was to be delivered, but on the scheduled date it was cancelled by the University authority. These are not merely personal inconveniences; they raise deeper questions about the kind of environment we are nurturing in our country. Universities are meant to be centres of learning, open dialogue, and the free exchange of ideas. When platforms for constructive engagement are repeatedly constrained, it reflects a worrying shift away from these ideals. This concern becomes even more pronounced when viewed against my engagements across the world, where I have been privileged to speak and interact freely with students and scholars in respected institutions. In the past 24 months, I have delivered lectures in notable universities globally including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Chicago University, University of Pennsylvania, Imperial College, to name a few. Those environments continue to demonstrate openness to dialogue, critical thinking, and shared learning, values that should equally define our own institutions. We must ask ourselves: what kind of nation are we building if spaces meant for intellectual engagement are gradually shrinking? A country’s progress is anchored on its ability to encourage knowledge, debate, and the contest of ideas, not restrict them. Nigeria must work towards becoming a place where ideas thrive, where knowledge is shared without fear, and where our institutions uphold the principles they were established to protect. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Peter Obi visited the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where some victims of the Kano Mosque attack are receiving treatment. Peter Obi has shown himself worthy and trusted to unite and protect Nigerians regardless of region and tribe. Meanwhile Emperor Tinubu, who would prefer to burn his own country to the ground to rule over the ashes, is sending condolences to the UAE, a country that has never witnessed any casualties despite over 600 ballistic missiles launched against them by Iran. But the same Tinubu is yet to issue any statement condemning the kidnapping of 400 Nigerians that occurred in one night. Nigerians CANNOT survive another catastrophic four years of Tinubu rule. He must be stopped by all means!

“The Bauchi visit.... aimed at building bridges and strengthening political structural alliances.” And Amina Abubakar Ahmad delivered an emotional account of the security situation in Northern Nigeria, making a direct appeal for HE Peter Obi’s visionary leadership. Her words…” Our security agencies are well equipped and professional. However, sir, the reality on the ground is dire. While we talk about 2027, our lives are already at risk in 2026. Kidnapping and banditry have become part of our daily lives. In our community, we live in constant fear. Farmers can no longer go to their farms due to the threat of abduction or death, which is severely affecting food security and our livelihoods. We need a leader who does not just diagnose problems but acts decisively to solve them. We need a secure environment where we can go to school without fear of abduction. Therefore, to everyone here from every nook and cranny of the country, I urge you all to join the movement of His Excellency, Peter Obi, for a better and more peaceful Nigeria.
