#Bielefelds first bicycle street has been approved by city council! After a 2-year test phase the route via Ehlentruperweg and Rohrteich Street becomes a comfortable cycle connection from the east of Bielefeld to the city center. More safety for cycling and walking routes!

#Mobilitätswende in #Bielefeld also affects the main north-south traffic connection: After the summer holidays, one car lane in both directions will become a cycling lane on a section of Artur-Ladebeck-Straße! There will be more safety and comfort for cycling 🚲

Construction work on Adenauerplatz in #Bielefeld finalized! A new, extra wide cycling lane eliminates a accident black spot. Cyclists now can safely cross one of the main traffic junctions beside car traffic and by a traffic light. This is how we make cycling safe and attractive.

Another milestone of Bielefeld's mobility strategy: #Bielefeld has a new bicycle parking garage. In the middle of the city center close to "Jahnplatz" and the town hall, bicycles can be safely parked inside now. The adress is Niederwall 8.

#Bielefeld project #altstadt.raum: at 2nd stakeholder workshop on March 23, the topics of accessibility and parking were discussed. The aim is to agree on the tasks for the planning experts. Their work on ideas for implementation will take place in the second half of 2023.

#Bielefeld get's over 3 million Euro for implementing measures in the Old Town #ReVeAL i.e. for new use of public space, against overheating in summers and to deal with heavy rain events. The application was approved by federal programm "adaption of urban space to climate change.

It's the first new years day since 2009 without a running EU-project to me. The projects #ReVeAL (#Horizon2020) and #Space4People (#URBACT) ended in 2022. I’d like to thank all friends in Europe for the phantastic collaboration in the last years. It was a great time. EU rocks!

Final conference of #ReVeAL project will start in London tomorrow! I am happy to join it and get together with all #ReVeAL partners once again. It has been an impressive journey since summer of 2019 with great pilot cities and fantastic support from science &research.

#Bielefeld's Old Town Hall is illuminated in green light in these days. The illumination is part of the campaign of municipalities to show solidarity to refugees remain stranded in freezing weather at the Belarus-Poland border.
