The issue with validating the consumption of alcoholic drinks as a Christian in the 21st century is that the line becomes dangerously blurry. If your only boundary is “don’t get drunk,” does that mean all alcoholic drinks are acceptable? Would you take shots of tequila, vodka, or beer? If the answer is no, then why not? We’re comparing drinks that were fermented for preservation in ancient times to modern alcoholic beverages intentionally designed to be intoxicating. There is a clear difference in purpose and intent. If alcohol has the capacity to lead to sin—not just drunkenness but a series of other moral failings—why allow it in the first place? Why hold onto it so tightly that abstinence becomes unthinkable? Cohabiting with someone before marriage may not be the sin itself, but doing so invites temptation and potential compromise, even if you insist, “as long as we don’t do anything sinful.” The same logic applies to alcohol. Why create a foothold for something that could harm your spiritual walk and witness?

It’s really hard to see the unfairness of the world & believe in the existence of a fair God.
