Europe’s biggest new gas project is moving fast. Construction is now actively advancing: • drilling operations underway • pipeline installation started • offshore platform under construction • 160 km subsea pipeline • production expected from 2027 Romania’s Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea is estimated to hold around 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

⚡️Romania has begun constructing a major pipeline as part of the Neptun Deep offshore gas project in the Black Sea—one of the EU’s largest energy developments with estimated recoverable reserves of 100 billion cubic meters. Once production starts in 2027, the project is expected to double Romania’s domestic gas output and transform the country into a net exporter at a time when Europe is reducing reliance on Russian supplies. The gas will also flow to Germany, Moldova, and potentially Slovakia. Developed as a joint venture between OMV Petrom (majority-owned by Austria’s OMV) and Romania’s state-owned Romgaz, the initiative underscores Romania’s growing strategic role in European energy security.
