Welcome to Most Precious Blood parish in Little Italy and the center of the feast of San Gennaro, made famous by The Godfather film. We're in the sanctuary of San Gennaro, a bishop in the Naples area and a martyr.

Today we're a couple blocks away from Old Saint Patrick's at The Church of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. Located in the heart of Little Italy, it's a beautiful title that reminds us that by the most precious blood of Jesus we are washed clean and saved.

Did you know @oldcathedral was the largest indoor space in New York state when it was built? It's had many famous Catholics step through its doors. Make sure you stop by if you're ever in New York

We're inside the @oldcathedral today. In 2010, I asked Pope Benedict that he designate this a basilica. A basilica is a church or cathedral granted special privileges by the pope.

Cardinal Dolan's New York continues! In my last video I discussed the history of @oldcathedral's cemetery, but do you know some of the people who are buried here, including in the catacombs?

Today I'm back at @oldcathedral. I think there's a great lesson when we have a living parish next to a cemetery. It reminds us we're part of a family, the communion of saints, that goes beyond space and time.

I'm at @oldcathedral, the second cathedral in the original 13 colonies in 1808. "Cathedral" comes from the Greek word "cathedra" which means chair. The cathedral is where the bishop's chair is. Tune in later this week for more on the Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral.
