As an Amazon Prime member, I receive packages I order this afternoon at my doorstep by 8:00 AM the next morning. Meanwhile, if I send a letter across town, it goes through three distribution centers across two states, and takes a week to get there - if it doesn't get lost in the process.

I'm all for tipping - as long as it's voluntary and goes 100% to the server and isn't divided up amongst the other employees. Many restaurants are trying to derive a huge portion of their payroll expense from tips.

@oldguy_steve At a restaurant the server has a far greater impact on your experience than the cashier at a grocery store. Tipping means good servers make a lot of money, and bad ones find new work in time. It's a far more efficient system. Plus now the server pleases YOU not the OWNER.
