There are many deeply concerning aspects of AI. Pope Leo highlights one: “If technology becomes the ultimate criterion, the human person risks being reduced to data, a cog in a machine or a commodity.” Bottom line: AI must benefit ALL of humanity, not just Big Tech oligarchs.

Just saw a guy hit his Claude Code limit at 5pm and said "well, I'm done for the day, going to the gym." I find this completely insane. Most people act like their time is worth zero. In 2009, KFC ran a free grilled chicken promo on Oprah. People queued up to 1.5 hours. Cops got called in North Carolina because traffic was blocking roads. For a $4 meal. Do the math: their hourly rate was negative. They literally paid to be there. The right question for almost every decision is: "given the time this saves me, should I buy it?" In NYC and SF, people pay TaskRabbit line standers $50/hour to wait for them. For a restaurant, an iPhone launch, a Trader Joe's run. The European reflex is "lol disgusting capitalism." The actual math: if your time is worth $200/hour, paying someone $50 to reclaim 3 hours is the trade of the century. You are not buying laziness. You are buying time. The most scarce asset in the universe. The reverse trade is also true. Buying a $20k Rolex over a $20 plastic Casio buys you zero time. Both tell the time exactly the same way. That is a bad trade, pure status consumption, zero leverage on your life. The framework is not "spend more money." It is "spend money where it converts to hours or leverage." AI accelerates this 10x. Hitting your Claude Code limit and stopping work is like Bezos hitting his Prime quota and refusing to order. Anthropic and OpenAI will probably soon shipp a $1000/month plan (assuming it scales the way $20 to $200 did). I would buy it tomorrow. So would a lot of us. Your time is the only thing you can't get back. Price it accordingly.

Apparently it’s impossible to meet a successful investor in a sauna in bali “There haven’t been any recently founded AI IPOs” ok This is why ppl who make blanket statements like “bali is full of brokies” will always lose. rooted in lack mentality.

@PhantomStays What AI company that he could have made an angel investment in went public? There haven't been any recently-founded AI IPOs.

I have been learning Spanish for 9 months. I can now speak conversationally. What helped, ranked from worst to best: 1. Duolingo 2. Moving to a Spanish-speaking country and feeling like a f**king idiot for 6 months If you can get past the fear of looking stupid, learning is fun.

ANDREJ KARPATHY COULD HAVE CHARGED $2,000 FOR THIS COURSE. He put it on YouTube. The full training stack. Tokenization. Neural network internals. Hallucinations. Tool use. Reinforcement learning. RLHF. DeepSeek. AlphaGo. 3 hours of the most comprehensive LLM education that exists anywhere at any price. Not how to use the tools. How the entire system was built from the ground up and why it behaves the way it does. The engineers who understand this build things the ones who only use the tools cannot even conceive of. The gap between those two groups is not 3 hours. It is everything those 3 hours quietly unlock for the rest of your career.

These guys are absolute kings in selling "indie hacker dream" and monetizing people who most likely will never make a $1 online Can't hate anything about it, supply responds to demand, extremely well done!

I made a game where you have to ship a startup every 30 days. If you miss the deadline, you die ☠️ It's called SHlPORDIE.COM. It uses the same game mechanics that kept me addicted to World of Warcraft: You start as a Noob Pirate, and you complete quests to level up, like buying your 1st domain or getting 1,000 visitors. There's Discord for the social part, but you need to keep shipping to stay in (otherwise, everybody can see you walked the plank). Since 2022, I've launched one startup per month, and it has changed my life. I hope this game will change yours too.

@PhantomStays @fashionluvr Not simply "europoors", but people who claim they do something big, when in reality they don't, which (no offense) sounds like the guy you're describing It's just very tiring after a while when you actually live in Bali

Fools who say “bali is full of brokies” are purely retarded Met this dude in the sauna who just went 26x on an angel AI investment. Nicest guy, quiet, humble. Invited me to an event, I returned the favor the next night. Only told me a week later he bought a Bentley after the co went public. Now he has an incubator for AI/tech startups - currently working on transforming the Australian mining industry with remotely operated drones instead of heli teams. in deep talks abt spinning up a fund together. But yeah ok, bali is full of posers right?

@fashionluvr @PhantomStays LA absolutely can also be like that but it’s a bit of a different vibe, it’s a real a city. Bali attracts mostly just broke Europeans looking for lifestyle (not that anything is wrong with that though)

this whole 'ask for html' is starting to grow on me. such an elegant way to turn my namedropping, links and questions into a clear decision board. especially for suitcases where it kinda matters how it looks (most look lame), i want to see what I'm buying
