@Terry314159 Anyway, I'm not that happy with this tagline anyway, so I'll be happy to change it when I think of a better one. Thanks for recommending Pythonista btw, and congrats on being the first to get Python running on iOS!

@Terry314159 Point taken. I'm not a native English speaker, but in my mind, being "the original" doesn't necessarily imply "first of its kind in any form". You could call the first iPhone "the original smartphone" in marketing, and there's some truth to it, though it's technically wrong…

@olemoritz Friendly FYI: Pythonista is not the "original Python IDE for iOS." My Python Math iOS app was first approved for the app store on 4/27/2011. But I was never able to get FORTRAN in numpy/scipy to compile so I pulled the app and recommended Pythonista to all my users.

In case you see a new Pythonista beta in TestFlight soon, just know that the way there has been paved with validation errors and automated rejection... 😬🐍

It is grimly hilarious to see this guy ripping up decades of American soft power projects while going “Wow!” and “Gawrsh!” at stuff he doesn’t understand. God only knows what the Russians or Iranians are making of the CIA getting absolutely hosed in public by an imbecile.

@MC_chibill Okay, yes, that's an iOS 12 issue. Should theoretically be fixed with the new beta, once that's approved by Apple. I haven't tested on iOS 12 recently, but this is definitely still on my radar.

@olemoritz One of the IOS libraries, since as of right now, the app still just crashes out totally. (You mentioned a while back you accidentally compiled that version with a newer ios version of the one apple library. (It has a github issue.)

I've posted the unblurred version of this on Bluesky, so if you're interested in a tiny little teaser of the future of Pythonista, you might want to follow me there. 🦋 More soon…

@olemoritz Still wish it worked on my ipad again, still getting that error from the update that got pushed with the wrong version of a library used.

@ishra It's not through beta review yet, but I'll probably open up a few more slots when it is.

@ThomasBertani This will mostly be a maintenance release with Python 3.13 support being the main thing. But I still have some surprises left...

@danghuutuan06 To be honest, I have considered that, but decided that it would be too much work to support the hundreds of different keyboard layouts that are used around the world (even if I'd just consider the European ones). So I decided to limit it to qwerty.

@olemoritz "Can you add the Vietnamese language to the keyboard or provide an option to add multiple languages to the keyboard? I really like the extensions, but I have to switch back and forth to use my native language. Please consider this addition. Thank you."

Pythonista 3.4 is finally out on the App Store. 🥳 It comes with Python 3.10, updated modules (openai, pandas), and many new possibilities for iOS automation with Python actions in the Shortcuts app. 🐍 apps.apple.com/de/app/pythoni…

@orlandor734 I'm sorry. I'm just one person doing basically everything, and I do have projects and responsibilities outside of Pythonista, so I often can't support my app as well as I'd really like to. 😧

@olemoritz Pythonista support is bad. Almost a month ago I requested help via email and they don't even acknowledge receipt. It's disappointing

@Rebolicas I'm sorry. Another project got in the way, and Apple threw in some unexpected complications by rejecting the update. I'm hoping to get it out soon though, I don't want to contribute to old devices becoming useless.

@ilyamiskov Hard to say without trying it, but I'd guess that it's a lot longer than with existing headsets because you probably feel less isolated from your surroundings, and the display quality is also a lot higher.

For how long can you wear this headset without fatigue? I doubt it’s a good proposition for long working sessions. #WWDC23

This was one of the most interesting parts of the Vision Pro announcement for me. I do wonder if there are new permissions to enable experiences that actually require eye tracking, but it's smart to be very careful with that kind of eyeball data. Don't expect the same from Meta.

@nholzschuch My girlfriend had an iPhone 5s left in the drawer that I could use. I'd probably have bought a used iPad mini otherwise, they've become quite cheap (around 50€).
