Church Notes: Revival — “Times of Refreshing”
Acts 3:11–19 (key verse: v.19)
Three Truths
1. The Foundation of Revival: Repent and Return (v.19a)
a. Repent = change of mind; change of direction/condition.
b. Return = turn back to God; stop walking away.
c. Revival begins when God’s people turn from self and sin back to the Lord.
2. The Forgiveness in Revival: Sins Wiped Away (v.19b)
a. “Wiped away” described as erased/rubbed out.
b. Picture: like oil working out a stain—God removes the mark of sin.
c. Emphasis: God’s forgiveness is thorough:
d. Cast behind His back; separated as far as east is from west (phrases referenced).
e. Result: God uses clean vessels—revival involves cleansing.
3. The Fullness of Revival: Times of Refreshing (v.19c)
a. “Refreshing” described as breath—the breath/wind of God restoring life.
b. Revival brings spiritual vitality that overflows to others.
