@ekbuilds hey 👋! Just quick question. I might not be the only one to ask, but did you plan to post RubyOnRemote content on Bluesky anytime soon? I’d be really interested :) 🙏

What I love about everyone moving to 🦋 is how much it accelerates us toward the very logical and simple future where social media is a protocol, not an app.

@markgurman It will be interesting to see because if you put on the side the age factor, it will be about choosing the Hadware vs the software mindset.

Long story short: It will not be Craig; it should/could have been Jeff Williams but he will be 65 by the time Tim retires, so that is now unlikely. It will be Ternus; He is young enough now that he can wait out a Tim retirement even if that is 5+ years away.

@JasonSwett I only use them to keep the track when working on a complexe refactoring. In the past I even wrote a script in my CI to ensure every todo comments where addressed before merging to the main branch 🙂

TODO comments are bullshit. Most of the time when I do git blame on a TODO the age is measured in years. Either do the thing or don't do it. Don't lie to yourself and others by leaving a TODO.

The recording of my Rails World talk is on YouTube now! There is a lot of room for improvement with my public speaking, but hopefully it is still enjoyable. Give it a view and let me know if you have any questions or feedback about it. youtube.com/watch?v=W-Qu4b…

@AmandaBPerino Oh wow makes sense! Never been to Japan before but I’m sure it would make the Rails World really special if this could happen! 🥹

I tallied the guesses of where Rails World attendees thought the 2025 event would take place. Amsterdam (the correct answer - more on that in a blog soon) was tied at 5th place with Barcelona and San Francisco. Where do you think the top 4 places were?

Rails Core member @tenderlove delivered the closing keynote at this year's #RailsWorld. With his unique presentation style (a little bit technical, a little BS) he talked about speeding up the Rails Router, building faster parsers...and lambos. Watch the full talk here: youtu.be/ZE6F3drGhA8

@typecraft_dev That’s crazy to realize the impact of @rbates screencasts had on the Ruby on Rails community, we’re in 2024 and his videos are still mentioned by so many people! Thanks Ryan for inspiring so many of us! 🙏

I wanted to give something back to people. Much like Ryan Bates in my generation, I wanted to make videos for people to help with their programming journey. And after a few attempts, typecraft was born. But then, the craziest thing happened...

Giving a workshop at #RailsWorld was incredible. But there is a story behind how I got here, and I want to share it with you all. Maybe it will help some of you. This is the story of typecraft (in a deeply personal thread that no one asked for...)
