Shock horror - Borson can’t actually respond to my argument so he invents falsehoods to attack my credibility again. What a coward he is. Pathetic. And yes, Phillips was absolutely dire. His ghostly finding on undertakings not in good faith (reversed on appeal) was outlandishly bad - that alone should have had him kicked from the judiciary panel. But his incoherent determination that Everton agreed the sporting advantage arose from the breach and his outright wrong interpretation of the analytical modeling - those were indicative of dire quality. Not all KCs make good arbitrators or justices.

Unlike Borson, I’m not so arrogant as to post without first running my analysis past others vastly more qualified and experienced than myself (or him). Anyone relying on his analysis is a fool, especially on the Man City case. He has previously said my work on City is of high quality but that he couldn’t be bothered to read it all. Just goes to show how concerned he is with learning and finding truth rather than running agenda-driven falsehoods. The moment he asserted that he understands audit practice better than a qualified, trained auditor, because he is a company director that has had audit performed on his companies and he was once party to litigation against one… despite never having trained or practised in it… told me what I needed to know about him. His analysis on the Everton decision is as poor as the calibre of the panel authoring the decision. Everton’s argument on causation was that a breach did not occur until after Burnley’s relegation. As such, they argued they were not liable for losses and the earlier actions that gave rise to the breach are inconsequential. The Panel disagreed on the basis the breach was a continuing condition but Everton can most certainly still appeal this (and will). The Panel, being of pretty dire quality, worded it poorly when they wrote that Everton agreed that they gained a sporting advantage from the PSR breach because they clearly didn’t. Everton actually assented that their actions on spend helped give rise to a PSR breach and afforded sporting advantage. But they quite clearly argued the breach only happened at a later date. For the purposes of law, time is linear. Everton could not rationally agree that the sporting advantage was caused by the breach if they also argued the breach came AFTER the sporting advantage. To suggest otherwise is completely incoherent. What the Panel did was to combine ITS OWN FINDING that the breach was a continuous condition with Everton’s assent that their actions gave rise to a sporting advantage. Anyone remotely competent analysing the decision would realise this. The Slaughter’s team has. This is something ripe for appeal. Personally, I agree with the Panel’s finding that the breach constitutes a continuing condition but that doesn’t mean an Appel tribunal will do so. To suggest that they have no grounds here is nonsense. As for the “ad hominem attacks” - I’ve only ever responded in kind. For example, out of nowhere he recently asserted that I copied his work. As if I would ever do that. The reality is he was never able to deconstruct my Man City arguments or handle it when I demolished his own and he had to resort to attacking my credibility instead, without ever basing it on the quality of my work. On the contrary, my opinions on him are entirely formed from the bullshit he posts.

@donmcgowan Desperate Don is realising Labour is in the gutter, so is continuing to attack Farage. Tries to deflect but we all see it. Question really is, what day next week will we hear his attacks on Reform?

What day this week do we expect Nigel Farage to start weaponising the England football team? We all know it's coming, I'm just curious as to when it might.

What has Elon Musk taken from you? So ask many including Andrew Neil. Here's the answer: He has taken our peace of mind. He has purposefully pushed us apart, divided us further and profited from our loss of community. And that is hard to ever forgive.

@piersmorgan Well, most hardworking business man in history for a start. Not only is that impossible to prove but as @hasanthehun pointed out earlier, he’s always tweeting on this site so the idea he is always working is demonstrable BS.

Andrew Marr was positively giddy yesterday afternoon after John Healy resigned. He, Shelagh Fogarty, Nick Ferrari and Natasha Clarke sounded as though they were celebrating on LBC — talking about the inevitability of Starmer's demise. Also, this is about the 10th time Marr has incorrectly predicted the fall of this government. A stopped clock is right sometimes, I guess.

'It's the end of days for this Labour government.' Andrew Marr calls for 'more senior resignations' after Defence Secretary John Healey's 'damning' comments about Keir Starmer.

The basic infrastructure in our country has been stretched beyond its limits by years of underinvestment and austerity. Our schools, hospitals, social housing and transport systems are on their knees and fall far short of what our communities need. Of course, we must address the risks and threats facing our country. But that does not mean simply pouring ever more money into the military, which has already received funding increases in recent years. Doing so would inevitably mean less money for the public services and infrastructure on which people depend. When we look at the risks we face, it is important to note that the Government’s own assessments identify pandemics, cyber attacks, failures of critical infrastructure such as the electricity system, and climate-related emergencies among the most serious threats facing Britain. This underlines that national security is broader than military security. Just because these other risks receive far less media attention, it does not mean they are not serious. If we're to address these risks, then that requires major investment in the foundations of our society: our public services, critical infrastructure, preparedness and resilience. We need the debate taking place about ever more military spending to acknowledge that it will not protect us from many of the most serious threats we face.

This looks like opportunism to me. Will the country be safer with John Healey gone, will the defence budget issues somehow get resolved…? Nah, this is posturing for self gain - in my view. Worse part - it undermines the government at a time when we have so much to deal with as a nation - not least, and with deep irony….handling defence threats. Defence Secretary quits, that’ll help. Have to say this though, I think the extent of the threat Russia poses is exaggerated, this rather sudden need for £28 billion seems a bit opportunistic also from the Defence Industry. On the other hand we keep hearing that Russia is losing in Ukraine - can they be a threat to Europe and be losing to Ukraine? theguardian.com/politics/2026/…
