@AnniePosting the more elaborate shahed drones are thought to go up to $100k and some cruise missiles (e.g. the ones used by iron dome) have a similar pricetag im not saying theyre pointless, just that unlike anti-personnel quadcopter drones they seem merely evolutionary

what exactly is the difference between a lot of things now called drones vs what we used to call cruise missiles? is it just propellers instead of jet engines? feels kinda like a marketing gimmick tbh

@tenobrus your second paragraph seems a bit incoherent to me? if the cost per unit of llm intellect going down is offset by consumption going up, but that new consumption is used to deliver /more/ end customer value, margins still go up i think

I think there's some interesting scope for artistically jarring effects here like imagine if you wrote space opera with laser battles and described the colours and texture of the plasma beams with turquoise and chiffon
Brian Lui@brianluidog

You can make your writing more feminine just by using more names for colours and fabrics. Turquoise. Chiffon. Wow You can make your writing more masculine by using words related to explosions. Cannonade. Artillery. Wow

the problem with “make something people want” is that most people focus on the “something people want” bit and not the “make something” bit

most software engineers also, notably, own a stake in their employer i do think the workers of the world would be better off if ~every job was partly compensated in equity
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion

Software people tend to be culturally liberal, but economically they tended to embrace free markets, because the market was rewarding their human capital very handsomely. They didn't unionize, they were generally libertarian on economics, etc.
