I was a few feet away from John Hume, David Trimble and Bono, as I was working at the Waterfront Hall when they joined hands. I thought about dad, that his senseless death, along with the death and injury of so many others, would now be of some worth. Please don't squander it.

Today the British Government told Damian McNally that the person who shot his father dead will never have to worry about being charged with his murder. And they told us all that this will aid reconciliation in Northern Ireland. How twisted, obscene and inhumane can it get?

We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. And they get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests except for PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. If we can’t give students more movement, recess, and play time then we don’t understand education.

Our father was shot 45 years ago today, dying 2 days later. 9 other people were killed that day. By age 23 our mother was widowed and had lost her daughter. So many women were left like her, with no justice or answers, to raise families alone. Legacy proposals cannot ignore them.

@robmoon78 @mlchealth I thought a petition was sent to the assembly last week signed by many heavily involved in sport. As it can be held outside it should be allowed

While it’s disappointing it is not being suggested that everything is going to open up again on April 1st. If the circumstances are right amendments are in place which cld allow for instance - gatherings of up to 10 people in outdoor spaces over Easter.

@robmoon78 @mlchealth My son plays football and has missed it badly for the past year. He is 15. As a principal of a primary school our coaches were able to coach outside with no issues and children and parents appreciated it greatly. I can see the huge negative impact it is having on our young people

@deirdreheenan Deidre no longer surprises me. As a school principal I am in despair at the lack of leadership in our assembly.

Doesn’t sound like any new decisions will be announced by the executive tonight — despite PM anno & Scotland anno earlier. Exec still set to move on schools given what’s happening elsewhere and putting stay at home message into regulation but may not be formalised until tomorrow

I’m prepping for presentation tomorrow abt impact of the pandemic on children & young people. Research consistently shows how young people are experiencing poorer wellbeing than other groups. Please prioritise keeping their schools & services open. 💛
