While Ondsel is no more, the development of Lens, the PDM system we developed, may live on under the FreeCAD umbrella. In fact, you can now apply for a grant to help develop it blog.freecad.org/2025/02/14/the…

We are shutting down Ondsel Lens permanently on November 22, 2024. If you still have files on Lens that you don't have anywhere else, please download them as soon as possible 💔

@c_kirkpatrick We spent the last 6 months polishing UX, adding improvements, and contributing changes back upstream. With a few UI tweaks, you will find the upcoming FreeCAD 1.0 sufficiently close to what you know from Ondsel ES

@ondsel NNNOOOOOooo! I started using Ondsel in my startup efforts (manufacturing air bearings) and have been loving it. I had high hopes to grow along with Ondsel and make it the cornerstone of both engineering and machine control (3D printing, CAM, etc.). VERY sad to hear this.

@ondsel That is a massive blow to the freecad community. But hopefully the features will live on in freecad.

@CooperZurad All changes to FreeCAD except reloadable objects have been submitted, most of them will be in v1.0. We'll submit the reloadable objects code upstream, too. We'll talk about MBD solver and Lens server code release when we are ready to

@CodingFreedom @Peter__Ross @FreeCADNews Very few things haven't been pushed to the upstream project. Reloadable objects are probably the only major feature not submitted yet. The rest is in the upcoming v1.0 already or scheduled for inclusion once v1.0 is out
