🚨This morning I woke up after speaking with Kemelia Paul’s mother, and I went into my devotion already carrying a lot of emotion. Over the past weeks I’ve been praying for her, following her journey closely, and reaching out to others to stand in the gap however they could, through prayer, support, anything at all. To now hear how far she has come is overwhelming in the best possible way. Kemelia has been discharged from ICU, and her condition continues to improve. A major surgery that was once expected is no longer necessary. She is also able to speak again, though still in small moments, and her medical team continues to monitor her closely as she recovers step by step. I’ve never met this family in person, only spoken with them over the phone, but what has developed through this journey feels deeply human. Hearing the relief in her mother’s voice this morning stayed with me. I am genuinely grateful. I want to say thank you on behalf of the family to everyone who prayed, shared her story, gave support, or simply kept Kemelia in their thoughts. It has all mattered. I’m asking that we continue to pray for her healing and strength in the days ahead. And this morning, I give God thanks for every step forward.

MegaMart Portmore is set to close on June 30, ending 27 years of operation at the retail chain’s first Jamaican store, with Chairman Gassan Azan describing the move as “a very hard decision” that could affect about 200 employees. The closure will bring an end to operations at the 75,000-square-foot Portmore location, which opened in 1999. jamaicaobserver.com/2026/05/28/meg…

I wondered if I read these reports correctly...because I could not believe that in 2026, this is the type of comment being made by a female member of Parliament! What a retrogressive statement and state of mind! You know, when measured against other countries across the world, Jamaica is one of the better performing countries in terms of women in leadership. But we are not without challenges, and gains can be lost if we are not careful. It is one thing when the efforts at disempowerment come from predictable male spaces - an entirely different thing when they come from women who should be fighting the same battles. @JulietHolness has been an exemplary role model and an inspiration to countless girls who aspire to be strong leaders - long may she continue to do so despite the best efforts of some - including those who have yet to achieve a fraction of what the Speaker has professionally, politically and otherwise! Just incredible. Clearly an apology is unlikely from this quarter, but I hope that even one person in the PNP Women's movement will at least sit down with Ms Burchell and give her some counsel.

South St. James Member of Parliament Nekeisha Burchell says House Speaker Juliet Holness has been exhibiting control tendencies similar to women who are able to control their husbands. READ MORE HERE: revonews.ai/news/burchell-…

This must be rage bait. The standing orders say English. If she wanted to use patois you ask for a suspension of the standing orders first. Whether or not that rule should be changed is a different topic.

The teachers don't want more mugs, lotion, tumblers and notebooks for Teachers Day. Some useful things would be best. Phone powerbanks, bluetooth speakers, projectors, electric kettle, microwave are a few good ideas.
