@vickygrayson_ This isn’t new behaviour, sadly. My LA tried to refuse to accept specialised reports for Statement (as was) because they were private reports. Next LA tried to refuse private dx for middle child. Youngest was refused OT help as was in private school. All 15-20 years ago.

“A seven-year-old boy whose vision is deteriorating has been refused the specialist help he desperately needs because he goes to a private school. A culture of prejudice against children who are educated in private schools is seeping into society.” dailymail.com/news/article-1…

It's my birthday! Sharing with @billyjoel AGAIN - he's 77, I'm 56. Colleagues pushed out the boat at school yesterday and the kids were wonderful too. "Miss, Sir says you're 60 today?." ..

Are there women who leave the house completely barefaced? With no makeup at all. Just embracing their natural look. Curious...What’s that like for you?

@icod Maybe? I think I mentioned it. Have a fab time. We really loved it (mostly did kids stuff, so not sure it would really suit, but the MAD museum was ace too - v noisy though)

@UnderSneege By the time infant moved to rear facing toddler seat (around 18 months) eldest was off high backed booster (aged 11) and middle one switched to front facing booster.

@UnderSneege You don’t have to use Isofix. There are solutions. I had 3 (2 full high backed booster and 1 infant carrier) in a (admittedly large) standard car - Honda CRV. All 3 across the rear seat. 2 rear facing one forward facing (ages 9, 6 and infant).

@London_W4 It’s totally free. The professional photographer even offered to take a photo using my phone so all of us (me + children) could be in the picture together. No need to pay at all.

And this is the most genius business idea of all time. People pay to have their photo taken in a Harry Potter scarf, pretending to push a luggage trolley through a wall here at King’s Cross Station. That is the queue of people waiting to pay on the right. That queue is there all day, every day, for year after year after year. They must have made tens of millions of pounds from a brick wall. Absolute genius.

@MynameisNadia__ @NoToMisogyny @DuncanHenry78 That’s not true. My eldest has severe autism and learning disabilities. No urgent toilet needs (due to routines), and doesn’t qualify for difficulty standing despite the distress caused by standing for longer periods of time and high rate PIP mobility.

@NoToMisogyny @DuncanHenry78 Anyone with severe autism would qualify under the nimbus guidelines of urgent toilet needs and difficulty standing for longer periods of time, so they would receive a RAP. I agree severe Austim is extremely different from adhd.

I have ADHD. I support Alton Towers here because having ADHD doesn’t entitle anyone to special treatment *at a theme park*. Queue with everyone else and chat with people, zone out or play a game on your phone. You aren’t excluded. You’re being treated fairly. There are some people with severe ADHD and other comorbidities such as severe learning difficulties who should still get special treatment but the fact you are on here posting this definitely means you specifically do not need and are not entitled to special provision at a theme park. These entitled “I want the world to revolve around my disability” when it’s not applicable really irritate me. First - I’d be livid at having to queue if he didn’t, and second if I was then invited to queue jump I’d feel so (justifiably) guilty I wouldn’t even enjoy it. The entitlement here is off the chart.
Jack Roworth@RoworthJack

I have ADHD. Alton Towers removing disability access for people like me is not fairness, it's exclusion. I've written to Dame Karen Bradley MP asking her to challenge this before it becomes permanent. Disabled voices matter.

@chalmermagne Not all the children to whom this list applies will be this way due to poor parenting/too much screen time/etc. my eldest (following a lengthy delay and tribunal)instead went to a specialist setting, which was able to help her progress instead of being lost in a crowd

@chalmermagne If the local authority had had their way, my eldest would have gone to mainstream school with low muscle tone, unable to use the toilet, and not responding to her name (and def not recognising it written down), with ‘up to’ 7 hours of non-specialist TA help per week.

@JeanHatchet Heard this on radio this morning along with 2 autistic teens. They were dumbfounded, tbh. Youngest annoyed that only ‘stereotypical traits’ used. My children have already had enough of being told they ‘can’t be’ ASD as don’t fit the general stereotype. This won’t help.

Not a parody. Mattel in a quest for “doll diversity” have made a cross-eyed, flappy hands “autistic” Barbie. 🤣

@icod Been using these for a few years now. Love them. My teenage dd also loves them - no more freezing hands, and can still wear them (mostly) when playing instruments (music student!)
