@MeasureTwiceMNY Assuming you can afford it, would it be immoral to get food from a food bank (thus depriving someone who really needed it). Doesn't everyone talk about paying their own way. Just because you can, does that mean you should. Is it the technicality or the spirit of the law?

Some say it's immoral to receive the Premium Tax Credit (PTC) if you can afford to pay 100% for health insurance premiums. But we all plan within the rules we've been given. Has anyone turned down the following when they didn't NEED it? • Child Tax Credit • Additional Standard Deduction • Education Tax Credits • Student Loan Forgiveness If benefit eligibility is income-based, it's not immoral to keep your income within those thresholds just because you have significant assets.

@CPATaxTeam Why do all of these arguments only look at one tax? The ~rest of the taxes are regressive. But they only cherry pick one tax because they are selling a specific narrative. (Heritage.org)

@RobinJCaston1 Google Reinventing Government by Clinton-Gore. It's what DOGE should have been but wasn't. I had Grok (Elon's AI) grade both of them.

@BRKsKaito @MicrosoftEdge @googlechrome If you use MS 365 - use Edge. If you use Google Workspace use Chrome. In both cases - have a separate profile for each account you use. Don't keep login into different accounts in the same profile.

Unpopular opinion: I think @MicrosoftEdge is better than @GoogleChrome for several use cases. They are very similar and almost identical due to the architecture behind them, but Edge suits me better despite being heavily critic.

@cbriancpa If you use comments with at mentions and create a search folder in Outlook that gathers the email notifications, it will create a de facto tickler list of items to be addressed.

If I created a simple-to-use Excel add-on to standardize review tick marks for tax firms, would anyone be interested? We've been using a primitive version of this in our firm for years, but I never thought about cleaning it up and packaging it for other people to use. #TaxTwitter

I have an irrational love for early Taylor Swift when she was like 14 and a country singer because it shows how comically simple country music is... except the musicians are incredibly talented. But the lyrics and song structures are what crappy free AI would produce.

@jasononfirms a Rotating paid Board (i.e. you, Hector, Alicia, whoever) help guide functions, features & pricing. All funds are used to build a better platform (not for dividends to stockholders). Built by accountants for accountants

@jasononfirms ProAdvisors crowdsource their own version of QBO. They could pledge some upfront money "to buy in" - these funds would be used to build a new and better QBO. There would be annual fees to cover the ongoing costs, maintenance and future upgrades.

@jasononfirms Crowdsource a basic accounting platform to handle simple businesses. (then expand) All proceeds are used for development of real needs. Get a rotating paid board of 5-10 people to guide progress. paid by and made for accountants. There are enough of us to do this

@CMcCulloughEA It's like having children - you're never ready, it will keep you up at night, cause you stress & age you beyond your years - but it will be the best thing you ever do. The only thing different is that your firm will be a net positive on cash flow instead of the opposite.

I would like to start my own tax firm some day, but I am always aware of how much I don't know. Also, just when I think I have some amount of brain, I usually do something stupid. How do you convince yourself you are ready to go out on your own? Plan is in two years.

@baldridgecpa once again - let the IRS deputize CPA and EA's to audit tax returns and keep 20% of the findings - costs the gov't nothing - collects a bunch of revenue - catch people cheating - creates fear to stop future cheating. win, win, win - only loss is for tax cheat & their preparers

@tannerdripjobs If his normal commute is 15 minutes and trip to paint store (from home) is 15 or less, then time starts at paint store. If trip to paint store is > 15 minutes then time starts at home (subtracting 15 minutes). But if it saves the company time - pay the employee. WIN WIN

@ForemanTaxLaw 50 year mortgages are a way to keep the current (broken) housing market prices. It will allow the younger generation looking to move to ownership and allow the older generation to cash out at these inflated prices.
