One of the most interesting #DeFi protocols I’ve been watching quietly 👀 $ALVA Alvara is trying to solve something DeFi still hasn’t really cracked properly: On-chain portfolio management. Right now if you want exposure to multiple assets you have to manually manage everything yourself. - Buy tokens - rebalance positions - track allocations - manage risk It works, but it’s messy. Alvara is building a system where portfolios themselves become tokens. A basket could represent something like: - ETH - BTC - AI tokens - DeFi tokens All wrapped into a single tradable asset. Meaning instead of buying multiple tokens individually, you can hold one asset that represents the entire strategy. Think of it like bringing ETF style exposure fully on-chain. What’s interesting is the direction the team is heading. They’re preparing a Base deployment, continuing platform upgrades, and improving the basket infrastructure while most projects in this size range would have simply gone silent. DeFi still hasn’t figured out the cleanest way to package strategies and portfolio exposure on-chain. Alvara is one of the few protocols actively trying to build that layer. The real innovation is the ERC-7621 Basket Token Standard. Why this matters: ERC-7621 allows a single token to represent an entire portfolio of assets. Instead of holding multiple tokens, users can hold one token that automatically represents a basket. Example: - 40% ETH - 30% BTC - 20% AI tokens - 10% stablecoins This unlocks something DeFi still lacks in a clean format. On-chain asset management. Traders can launch baskets representing strategies or sectors and anyone can buy exposure through a single token. Think: - Sector ETFs - Copy trading portfolios - Narrative baskets - Managed funds All transparent and on chain. Upcoming upgrades (this month) strengthen the thesis: Base deployment → faster and cheaper transactions. Token indexer → ability to add virtually any token into baskets. BSKT optimisation → more efficient rebalancing including token to token swaps. TradFi already runs on this model through ETFs and managed portfolios. Crypto still does not have a widely adopted standard for tokenised portfolios. If ERC-7621 gains traction, Alvara becomes infrastructure for tokenised funds in DeFi.
