Tuesday, March 19th Forest Glen classes participated in a live Zoom call with Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre! We got a tour, saw rescued hatchlings and met rescued wetland turtles. We learned about habitat depletion, frequent injuries, what to do/how to help. @OntarioTurtleCC

A caring @OntarioTurtleCC volunteer brought a #BlueSpottedSalamander to TWC after kind homeowner Joe rescued him from his basement. Although unharmed, it's too cold for the little one to be released. He'll be well cared for in a safe, warm and moist home until he can be released!

A Muskoka couple saw a painted turtle with a hook through its face this morning. Now, they’re waiting for a turtle taxi to come pick it up and bring it to the @OntarioTurtleCC (OTCC) for treatment. If you see a turtle that is injured or dead, call the S.T.A.R.T. Reptile Hotline at 705-955-4284 or the OTCC at 705-741-5000 for help. Whether a turtle has been hooked, hit by a car or otherwise injured, these organizations can help arrange transportation and care for hurt turtles and even use dead turtles for data and tissue samples in their research. #Muskoka #Turtles #Conservation

Today I was honoured to join the @OntarioTurtleCC ground breaking ceremony. Once the new turtle conservation centre is complete, it will be able to care for 5,000 🐢. Since 2018, the Ontario govt has provided almost $1.5 million to support their important rehabilitation work.
