Every American kitchen between 1880 and 1970 had a coffee tin next to the stove with a slotted spoon stuck in the top. The tin held bacon grease. Every rasher fried in the morning contributed a tablespoon. Every batch of sausage added more. The tin was strained when it got low, decanted into a fresh tin, kept on the back of the stove where the warmth kept it soft. The grease fried the eggs. Greased the cornbread pan. Made the gravy on the pork chop. Roasted the potatoes. Sautéed the onions. Sealed the cast iron. Greased the squeaky hinge on the screen door. It was free. It was the by-product of a meal that had already happened. It carried the fat-soluble vitamins of the pig the bacon came from. It made everything it touched taste of breakfast. The grandmother of every person reading this had one. The mother of every person reading this probably did not. The tin was thrown out, in most American kitchens, sometime between 1972 and 1985, on the advice of a heart-disease guideline that has since been quietly retracted. It was replaced by a plastic bottle of canola oil with a fifteen-year shelf life and a list of processing steps including hexane extraction, deodorising, and bleaching. The grease was the better thing. The tin is still in the cupboard. Probably.

Many of the men I know who are amazing, and would make amazing husbands for women, live in just the most inconvenient locations. 90% are congregated in Texas and don't want to leave. Women don't want to live in Texas. The other 10% are in Canada. Women don't want to live in Canada. Basically, your options are permanent Summer or permanent Winter. This is a problem because we all know women love Autumn the most.

The true secret to a effective skincare routine is eating a lot of collagen, vitamin E, C, and D (also applying vitamin C directly to your skin), as well as ensuring you have a functioning thyroid. I also do regular red and blue light treatments in an infrared sauna. I sometimes use glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids, but usually just on my face. My medical esthetician also wants to teach me how to microneedle myself with stem cells and hyaluronic acid, which sounds insane, haha. Not sure I'm going to do that, but it'd be interesting to learn. Honestly, this routine has been very helpful with keeping my skin from sagging due to weight loss.

Since I wasn't posting and commenting on Twitter yesterday, this gave me the opportunity to fully exfoliate my entire body 4 times. Dry brush, pink clay sand scrub, 10% d'AHA scrub and lotion, tretinoin, followed by maximum hydration lotion. Yes, I have the smoothest skin in existence.

As an X user rather than an advertiser I will say that my enthusiasm over this announcement is very well contained. Nonexistent even. Then again maybe I should be happy, if they fix the ad stack maybe X will stop serving me ads about things in ****ing Missouri.
