This is why I mask. Now, ask yourself who the “cigarette lobby” is after ready this article. Then, I hope you will decide what you are going to change. I lived through the time of getting rid of smoking in public places. Let’s at minimum do it again. dilatemag.com/post/covid-isn…

Among the material pulled from the Holocaust Museum's website were teaching materials about the parallels between Nazism and Jim Crow and a conversation between a Holocaust Survivor and a woman whose father was lynched in Alabama.

Make no mistake: destroying world-class universities, like the US just did with Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, isn't just an attack on Iran but it's literally an attack on all of us, on all of humanity. It's not Iran that "won" when Maryam Mirzakhani made her discoveries that won her a Fields Medal: it's all of mathematics, and everything mathematics is used for. Human progress won, technology won, we all won. It's the same type of stuff the Mongols did during the sack of Baghdad and their destruction of the House of Wisdom: we ALL lost something irreplaceable back then, entire fields of human knowledge set back. That's what bombing a university does. It doesn't just destroy buildings. It destroys us, all of us.

Before another well-meaning, good doctor says “there just isn’t that much evidence tying Covid to this condition yet” it would be great if they checked the Covid lit library to see if 1,000+ research papers of such evidence exists Misinfo helps no one ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/research/coron…

"Every time the Epstein affair resurfaces, bombs explode somewhere in the world and cause a distraction." Senator Claude Malhuret stood up in the French Senate this week and systematically torched every single member of Trump's cabinet. Nobody was spared. Not one. "A year ago, here in France, I compared Trump's presidency to Nero's Court. I was wrong. It's the miracle court," Malhuret began. Then he went through the roster. "An anti-vaxxer, former heroin addict as Minister of Health." (That's RFK Jr) "A climate-skeptic Minister of Economy." (That's Scott Bessent) "An alcoholic TV host, Minister of the Armed Forces." (That's Pete Hegseth) "An old Qatar agent, Minister of Justice." (That's Pam Bondi, whose former firm collected $115,000 a month lobbying for Qatar) "A groupie of Putin, Minister of National Security." (That's Tulsi Gabbard) Then he pulled back and went bigger. "A Turkish proverb says: when a clown settles in a palace, he does not become king. It is the palace that becomes a circus." Malhuret pointed out that since Trump created his so-called Board of Peace, he has launched more military strikes than Biden did in his entire term. He called out the Boeing jet Qatar gifted Trump worth $400 million. He called out the stock market manipulation that only insiders benefit from. He called out the Gulf investment deals enriching Trump and his family. "Any one of these conflicts of interest would have caused an immediate procedure of impeachment here," Malhuret said. "But we are not here. We are in MAGA's America where public business is conducted in favor of private interests." Then came the line that cut deepest. "Every time the Epstein affair resurfaces, bombs explode somewhere in the world and cause a distraction." This is how the world sees us now. Not through Fox News. Not through Truth Social. Through the cold, clear eyes of allied nations watching a great country be hollowed out by crooks. Every American should hear this speech. Share it everywhere.

People with mental illnesses are just as deserving of benefits as those with chronic physical illnesses. 👇 A mental illness is just as challenging - often more so - when it comes to daily life and holding down work. 🧠 I have both: life-threatening physical conditions like lupus, *and* severe mental health problems. More often than not, it's my mental health that debilitates me the hardest. I'm tired of mental illness being belittled and disabled people being gaslit. Brain conditions are physical. Disability is disability. We need fair support, not two-tier cuts that push vulnerable people deeper into hardship. ❌ #UC #MentalHealthMatters

Give A Shit About Nature
Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature·
The banana peel you tossed on the trail is going to get a bear killed. Every single apple core and orange peel left on a trail teaches a nearby bear that human hiking trails are a food source. In bears, it is almost always fatal. Wildlife managers have a phrase for it: "A fed bear is a dead bear." Once a bear associates humans with food it keeps coming back. It gets bolder. It approaches campsites. It gets too close to people. At that point there is no rehabilitation, no relocation that reliably works. The bear gets euthanized. The bear didn't do anything wrong. It learned exactly what we taught it. Leave no trace means leave no trace. Pack it in. Pack it out. Every time.

Pro tip: what would you do to care for your own self, your own living space, to make your own life work, if you didn’t have a spouse or kids? Now go do that, but w/ a spouse & kids. You don’t need her to teach you, you don’t need a list. Be a human. It’s red flags that you can’t
Tyler Todt@tyromper

*Tip for women. Most of us men really want to help but don’t know how. Give us lists! Give us list items weekly we can take off your plate & we love to help! Guys, ask her what can I take off your plate today? The key is solid communication around this. We can’t READ MINDS.

BREAKING: Everyone is watching the Strait of Hormuz for oil and fertilizer. Almost nobody has noticed that it is also shutting down MRI machines, semiconductor fabs, and the global aerospace supply chain. Helium. The second lightest element in the universe. No substitute exists for it. You cannot synthesize it. You cannot replace it. And roughly one-third of the world’s supply just went offline. Qatar produces 30 to 33 percent of global helium as a byproduct of LNG processing at Ras Laffan, home to the largest helium production facilities on Earth. When the Hormuz blockade triggered LNG force majeure declarations and attacks hit Qatari infrastructure, the helium stopped flowing with it. Prices have doubled in spot markets. And helium has a property that makes this crisis structurally different from oil, fertilizer, or any other commodity caught behind the strait. It evaporates. Continuously. Even in sealed containers, helium boils off. The global supply chain operates on roughly 45 days of buffer before existing inventory simply ceases to exist. You cannot stockpile helium the way you stockpile crude oil in salt caverns or grain in silos. If the supply stops for six weeks, the buffer is gone. Not depleted. Gone. Returned to the atmosphere where it is too diffuse to economically recapture. This is why the industries that depend on helium are facing a crisis that no financial instrument can solve. Semiconductor manufacturing requires ultra-pure helium for wafer cooling in lithography and for leak detection in sub-5-nanometre chip fabrication. TSMC, Samsung, and Intel cannot produce advanced processors without it. Every AI chip, every smartphone processor, every data centre GPU in the current generation traces its manufacturing lineage through a helium-cooled process. If fabs run dry, the production lines stop. Not slow. Stop. MRI machines require liquid helium to cool superconducting magnets to near absolute zero. Hospitals cannot substitute another gas. When helium supply tightens, MRI availability falls. During previous shortages, hospitals rationed scans. A sustained one-third supply cut puts diagnostic imaging capacity at risk across every healthcare system that depends on magnetic resonance. Aerospace depends on helium for purging rocket fuel systems, pressurising tanks, and testing for leaks in systems where failure means explosion. NASA, SpaceX, ULA, and every launch provider in the Western world runs on helium. Fibre optic cable manufacturing requires helium atmospheres. Quantum computing research requires helium-3 isotopes for cryogenic cooling. The US is the world’s largest helium producer and has some buffer capacity. Algeria and Russia produce meaningful volumes. Overland rerouting from Qatar through Oman and Saudi Arabia is theoretically possible but logistically slow and capacity-limited. None of these alternatives can replace one-third of global supply within the 45-day evaporation window that defines the crisis timeline. The same 21-mile strait that is starving the food system is now threatening the technological infrastructure of modern civilization. The fertilizer trapped behind Hormuz determines whether four billion people eat. The helium trapped behind Hormuz determines whether the chips powering the AI revolution get manufactured, whether cancer patients receive diagnostic scans, and whether rockets carrying communications satellites reach orbit. One chokepoint. Two invisible supply chains. Both irreplaceable. Both operating on biological or physical deadlines that no ceasefire retroactively extends. The world built petroleum reserves. It never built fertilizer reserves. It never built helium reserves either. The pattern keeps repeating. The lesson keeps being ignored. Full analysis: open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

NEWS: Massive budget cuts for US science proposed again by Trump administration "It's an extinction-level event for science". The US government is proposing massive cuts to almost every branch of science, from NASA to the National Institutes of Health. NSF would completely eliminate the social, economic and behavioral sciences directorate. This would decimate the world's leading scientific system. nature.com/articles/d4158…
