Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system. This Nurses Appreciation Week, I want to thank every nurse across Ontario for showing up day after day in impossible conditions - overcrowded hospitals, chronic understaffing, workplace violence, and burnout. You deserve more than applause. You deserve respect, safe working conditions, fair compensation, and a government that listens to you. Thank you for everything you do for patients, families, and our communities. We see you, we appreciate you, and we will keep fighting alongside you. #onpoli

I asked Ontario’s Health Minister what this government is doing to RESPECT and RETAIN #nurses. Instead of answering, she talked about recruitment and alleged nurses who tell her they appreciate her. When I called out the non-answer, she laughed out loud. Ontario nurses are dealing with burnout, chronic understaffing, workplace violence, and unsafe working conditions. There is nothing funny about that. Nurses deserve better. #onpoli #NationalNursingWeek
