About the Author (me): I'm the founder of Juicekeys.com, a small juice and smoothie bar located in Raleigh, NC. We built our business by committing to only the most exceptional ingredients in our smoothies—no exceptions. We held this high standard for nutrition long before it became today’s trend.
Our customers loved it, but it came at a high cost to Juicekeys. So we set out to find a way to reduce the expense of our premium ingredients. What we created was a concept called “Oopskeys.”
Oopskeys are smoothies made from all our leftovers. We layer any remaining smoothie ingredients together, move them to our in-store freezer, and sell them for $6 (half the price of our regular menu smoothies). Oopskeys became an instant hit. Many customers wanted the superior nutrition of our ingredients and were happy to let them thaw for 30 minutes—especially at that price. It was a true win-win: customers got a high-quality, Juicekeys-backed smoothie at a discount, and we saved our expensive leftovers from going down the drain.
I was so inspired by the creativity behind Oopskeys that I wanted to bring the idea to life even more. I created a brand hero—a jolly, curious, and resourceful monster named Ollie. What started as the face of the Oopskey concept gradually grew into something bigger. I wanted to share the same resourcefulness and curiosity that had become so valuable in my own thinking and motivations.
This ultimately led to the creation of Oopskey Books for Kids, known to many as Ollie's Adventures. Inside the books, I built a magical world set in the Mocha Mountains, along with a fun time-traveling dynamic in Juicekeys. My goal is to deliver exciting adventures while teaching kids about resourcefulness and curiosity—and slipping in useful information along the way.
I'll leave it at that for now. I hope everyone will check out my Oopskey Books for Kids!
