An 18-year-old Pennsylvania high school student has been arrested and is facing more than 300 felony charges for allegedly running a massive catfishing and s-xtortion scheme involving more than 20 underage victims. Authorities say Zachariah Meyers is charged with trafficking in minors, s-xual extortion, and child s-xual abuse material offenses. Police interviewed 30 underage boys and confirmed at least 21 victims, ages 14 to 17. Investigators say the victims believed they were communicating online with a young woman. Authorities allege that at least 14 victims sent explicit images of themselves, and one sent videos filmed in a private area of the high school. One victim reported being manipulated into having s-x on two separate occasions with two different adult men. According to charging documents, Meyers posed as a female on TikTok and Snapchat to catfish multiple victims. He allegedly persuaded them to send s-xually explicit photos and videos and, in at least one instance, pressured a victim to provide more material by saying he needed it to “keep my silence.” Police also say that, at Meyers’ direction, the victim used a cellphone to secretly record the Peters Township High School wrestling locker room on six separate occasions.
