Lichen, Moss, Fungi

@PhilIitalian Interesting subject. I presume the fungus type can say whether this phenomenon is fertilizer related or spore transmission related. The fungi were scattered between the west side of a dune mound and the edge of the golf course so on the more exposed side.

Golf courses were accessible during lockdown so I explored a local one yesterday before lockdown finished and found 26spp of bryophyte plus: Tulostoma brumale, Geoglossum cookeanum and an Entoloma which I think will eventually key to Entoloma sericeum.

@DWA1955 The moss with the Geoglossum is Homalothecium lutescens.

@opegrapha I think that the bryophytes include Syntrichia ruralis in photo 1, but what is the moss with the Geoglossum, please?

Two red stemmed pleurocarps growing next to each other: Pleurozium schreberi and Hylocomium splendens.

@VanJisca Yes wellies essential where I was. I noticed in lots of photos that trentepohlia was present so looked at branches that had trentepohlia and bingo.

Tried out a theory for finding Colura calyptrifolia today and found a tiny patch in just 10 mins. Not sure if the theory works or was just lucky!

Tiny Mycena tenerrima with cap just 4mm across growing on Fraxinus trunk. The white pad in front of it I think is the start of another one

@lisajrwilliams @RSPBMiddleton @Natures_Voice @BLSlichens @LichenWorld Looks like you might have some Physcia there. Can't say which for sure but perhaps Physcia tenella could be a candidate.

This one was growing directly on Syntrichia ruraliformis which I think is Arrhenia spathulata.

I often see Bryum argenteum but mostly without capsules. Must prefer this habitat to pavements.

This one without appressed leaves I think has the distinctive leaf shape of Rhynchostegium megapolitanum

From the same habitat Brachythecium albicans with appressed leaves and spiky tips to the shoots

Syntrichia ruraliformis dry and wet together giving a nice contrast.

@lisajrwilliams @RSPBMiddleton @Natures_Voice @mossworld @BSBIbotany @Love_plants I think Grimmia pulvinata. The familiar capsule seta can be seen in the cushions. Campylopus flexuosus capsules do the same but doesn't have the white hair points.

Despite the cold weather fungi could still be found in Abernethy, Pseudohydnum gelatinosum being my favourite find.

@Marchantia ....also, the leaf base looks incrassate which is a feature of Isothecium.

@Marchantia From what I can see I'm leaning towards Isothecium myosuroides. Check to see if the branch leaves are narrower and more parallel-sided than the stem leaves.
