If we get open-source AI right, the AI economy could support hundreds of millions of people. Not just researchers at big labs, but anyone who contributes. The landscape would look like GitHub with incentives, rights, and composability built in. @viswanathpramod of @sentient_found on Open Commons Ep. 1 Full episode: youtu.be/I7h9Pm8WOrc

Right now, open-source AI has no way to pay its contributors. You do the work, release it for free, and hope the attention translates into a job offer at a closed lab. The open ecosystem is a recruiting funnel for the closed one. But we need an open-source economy. @viswanathpramod of @sentient_found on Open Commons Ep. 1 Full episode: youtu.be/I7h9Pm8WOrc

The companies building AI shouldn't be the same ones writing its rules. That's the whole point of what @viswanathpramod is building at @sentient_found and @Princeton.
Miss Sentient@0xsachi

Can we trust private companies to define the constitution for AI? @viswanathpramod 's take: trust is one thing. But economically, once you're dependent and they control the oxygen, trust is the least of your problems. Full episode on @opencommonspod: youtu.be/I7h9Pm8WOrc

Prof. @viswanathpramod doesn't argue for open AI based on ethics, but on economics, structure, and biology. Key takeaways from @opencommonspod Ep 1: → Frontier AI is structurally fragile → Open source AI on its own doesn't mean anything yet → And why AGI might need the commons to exist
Open Commons Podcast@opencommonspod

Read @0xsachi's takeaways from episode 1 with @viswanathpramod, Princeton professor and @sentient_found co-founder. On OML, model fingerprinting, and why AGI might need the commons to exist. open.substack.com/pub/opencommon…

Nation states will want their own AI. So will entire industries. The alternative is depending on a handful of companies for the most important technology of the century.
Miss Sentient@0xsachi

Five companies already make up 80% of the S&P 500. If AI stays closed and controlled by a few labs, that concentration only gets worse. At some point, there's no S&P 500 left. Just an S&P 5. @viswanathpramod on why that's structurally fragile, not just unfair. Full episode on @opencommonspod: youtu.be/I7h9Pm8WOrc

The full conversation between @0xsachi and @viswanathpramod is here. 47 minutes on OML, model fingerprinting, why open-source AI currently works as a recruiting funnel for closed labs, and why AGI might need the commons to exist at all. Grab a coffee and listen :)

Episode 1 is live. @0xsachi sits down with @viswanathpramod on why open-source AI can't survive without economics, and what it actually takes to build an economy around open models.
Miss Sentient@0xsachi

Episode 1 of @opencommonspod is live. My guest: @viswanathpramod, Princeton professor and @sentient_found co-founder. Someone who's spent 30 years building the infrastructure behind wireless, blockchains, and now open AI. We get into why open-source AI can't survive without economics, what it actually takes to give a model an identity, and why AGI might only happen the way human intelligence did: collectively. I'm launching a podcast. It's called Open Commons, and it's about who gets to build, own, and govern the AI that's quietly becoming the operating system of the next century. First episode drops Tuesday, April 21. More soon.

@sentient_found @karpathy this is exactly why open ecosystems matter. once tools are public, innovation stops being linear and becomes networked. every builder becomes an accelerator.

Here's how open source wins in practice: It starts with permissionless composition. Anyone can fork, anyone can build. This unlocks parallel experimentation that scales fast and produces a flood of derivative innovation. When @karpathy released autoresearch, within days independent builders such as @christinetyip forked it to create autoresearch@home: a distributed research swarm where any internet agent can collaborate on AI/ML research. A clear demonstration: accessible technology lower barriers to experimental expansion.
Christine Yip@christinetyip

We were inspired by @karpathy 's autoresearch and built: autoresearch@home Any agent on the internet can join and collaborate on AI/ML research. What one agent can do alone is impressive. Now hundreds, or thousands, can explore the search space together. Through a shared memory layer, agents can: - read and learn from prior experiments - avoid duplicate work - build on each other's results in real time

A few months ago, I asked @ethan_myshell about the different AI agents on @myshell_ai. Here’s what he shared: 1️⃣ AI characters—Bringing K-pop, anime, and game characters to life with realistic voices & personalities. 2️⃣ Education—Personalized learning for coding, languages & more. 3️⃣ Utility—AI-powered tools for everyday tasks. I’m sure a lot has evolved since then! Has anyone built an AI agent on MyShell recently? 🎙️ Full podcast on @0xbeaconpodcast
