BREAKING: Elon Musk concludes testimony in the OpenAI trial. Key claim from the stand: OpenAI tried to 'steal' a charity, converting a non-profit Musk seed-funded in 2015 into a capped-profit entity now valued in the hundreds of billions. The verdict here will set precedent for every AI lab structured as a non-profit going forward.

"OpenAI have what's called human reinforcement learning, which is another way of saying that they have a whole bunch of people that look at the output of ChatGPT and then say whether that's okay or not okay. Essentially they are training the AI to lie." — Elon Musk

What happened in court today with Elon Musk vs. Sam Altman / OpenAI: Elon spent a second full day on the stand under cross-examination. Key moments: • He called himself “a fool” for giving OpenAI ~$38 million in early funding, believing it would stay a nonprofit for humanity. • Repeated his core line: “It is not OK to steal a charity.” • Said the massive Microsoft investment was the tipping point where he lost trust in Altman — turning the org from nonprofit mission to for-profit empire. • Emphasized that any early for-profit discussions were always meant to serve the nonprofit mission, not replace it. The betrayal narrative is front and center. Trial continues.

Whose messing with whom in Oakland court today? Elon getting cross-examined by OpenAI’s lawyer like he’s on trial for inventing the future. Savitt throwing 47-layer definitionally-complex questions: Elon hits back: “That’s a lie, bro.” OpenAI: “You left us!” Elon: “You became Microsoft’s profit goblin with my old non-profit dream.” It’s not a trial, it’s a messy divorce where one ex stole the kids, rebranded them GPT-4 and now wants alimony in billions😂 Who’s really getting messed up? OpenAI, their desperate lawyers and that original “for humanity” mission they sold out for Microsoft cash. The original mission. Pass the popcorn.

NEWS: Elon Musk continues to spar with OpenAI's attorney over questioning style on day 3. Proceedings resumed with Elon Musk clashing again with OpenAI's lawyer William Savitt. After Savitt said he was asking a simple question, Elon Musk fired back: "Your questions are definitionally complex, not simple. It is a lie to say they are simple." Savitt pressed Elon Musk on his desire to control his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX. The two sparred over details of his current and future Tesla ownership, including stock options reported in financial filings.

Day 3 of the Musk vs. OpenAI trial just got spicy. 🔥 OpenAI’s lawyer William Savitt tried to paint Elon as some kind of small-time donor who didn’t deliver on his big promises hammering him on the $38 million actually given versus the “up to $1 billion” he once floated. Elon wasn’t having it. “Without me, OpenAI wouldn’t exist!” he fired back, voice raised. He contributed his reputation, his name (he literally named the company), and his early vision when no one else was willing to bet big on safe AGI. Those things have real value — way beyond just writing checks. Savitt also drilled into whether OpenAI used Elon’s money for rent at the Pioneer Building (which Elon was leasing and sharing space with Neuralink). Elon confirmed he was on the hook for the full lease but would’ve found another tenant anyway. Classic “gotcha” attempt that landed flat. Elon’s bottom line: $38 million is still a lot of money, and his non-cash contributions credibility, branding, foundational push were massive. OpenAI didn’t bootstrap itself in a vacuum. This trial keeps exposing the tension: one side wants to reduce everything to ledger lines, the other is fighting over principles, mission, and who actually built the foundation. Elon’s not just defending his donations he’s defending the idea that you can’t rewrite history and turn a nonprofit promise into a closed, profit-driven empire without consequences. Truth is, without Elon’s early involvement, OpenAI probably never gets off the ground the way it did. Reputation and vision aren’t nothing they’re everything in the early days of something this ambitious. Stay tuned. This one’s far from over.

NEWS: Elon Musk grilled about his contributions to OpenAI during cross-examination on day 3. OpenAI lawyer William Savitt pressed Elon Musk to confirm his donations totaled $38 million, far short of the "up to $1 billion" he had originally offered. "Without me, OpenAI wouldn't exist!" Elon Musk said, raising his voice. "I contributed my reputation!" He added that he also named the company, saying "these things all have value." Savitt also questioned whether OpenAI used Elon Musk's donations to pay rent at the Pioneer Building, which he leased and shared with Neuralink. Elon Musk confirmed he was on the hook for the entire lease but said he would have found another sub-tenant if not OpenAI. Elon Musk maintained that "$38 million is still a lot of money" and the value of his contributions to OpenAI was worth much more. On the left Elon Musk and on the right William Savitt
