Tucson Tipsters- we need your help on this Cold Case...On Monday December 19th, 1994, Esther "Lizette" Galaz went missing from the Rella Verde Apartments, located at 4141 E. 29th St. The following evening her body was located in a dry wash several blocks from where she was last seen. On January 16th, 2025, shortly after 9 a.m., a staff member at Legacy Traditional School – East Tucson, informed a uniformed Tucson Police Officer that an adult male was acting erratic in the parking lot. The officer was working at the school as a part of the School Safety Officer Program. The officer was able to locate the male and immediately detain him without further incident. A search of the suspect resulted in officers locating a loaded handgun and knife in his possession. He has been identified as 31-year-old Daniel Hollander. The Tucson Police Department extends its deepest gratitude to the parents and staff members of Legacy Traditional, and the officers who quickly responded to address the suspect and prevent a potentially deadly situation. School-related social media threats have gone viral, creating fear in our Tucson community. TPD takes these threats very seriously. In the past week, we have investigated over 100 9-1-1 calls, spoken to and questioned numerous individuals involved, and arrested six teenagers, all under the age of 16. Those spreading fear and threatening schools are being held accountable with serious criminal charges. As of today, there have been no known credible threats to any Tucson-area schools. Whether you're a parent, guardian, student, administrator, friend, or neighbor—we all share the same goal: keeping kids and staff safe in our schools. Have those courageous conversations to help kids understand the dangers and consequences of creating, posting, or sharing any threat of violence. What may seem like a prank, a joke, or even sharing someone else's threat can lead to criminal charges and expulsion from school. Report it, don’t repost it!
