@Wired__One @aniobrien receiving a tax payer funded subsidy to their retirement scheme is what i would call a life long perk. in fact, were it up to me, anyone elected fro the frist two terms receives min wage plus bonus. no other perks, the upstarts would no longer run.

@opsteperous @aniobrien You don't know what you are talking about. Ex MPs do not receive life long benefits after leaving parliament.

Sad to hear that Brooke van Velden is leaving politics. She is a smart and high-performing minister. The youngest Cabinet minister in history.

@BruceTa55302936 @Wired__One @aniobrien you bet wrong. she did the job she was required to do. she pushed act policies. in essence, she was a good secretary, assistant etc. but i expect more from MP's then one stint, in order to get the perks for life, and then a quick exit into 'private'.

@Wired__One @aniobrien in your own words what and who is a woman and why? maybe really the issue is that we are so used to underperformer, that we are almost ecstatic when one does their job. She is 33, and is now living of the tax payer for the rest of her life, which could be 50+ years. Meh.

@opsteperous @aniobrien Van Velden has had a very successful political career, given her age and the barriers she has faced. But then again, nobody dislikes women succeeding more than other women...

@TerriWhiti @FairiMairi @aniobrien oh she will go into the private sector to use her political experience. I doubt she will work, her assistant however will. Can we again hire someone who is old, has experience, maybe even created some employment and knows what women and children are?

@aniobrien so uni to govt pipeline, and then she will get some real life 'experience'. fair for her to admit that she has no work experience outside of being a minister, guess the perks as an ex minister are good and for life.

@opsteperous They are not bipartisan. She faced incredible heat to get some of them through. She is 33. She says she wants to go work in the private sector and get more experience.

@aniobrien i see nothing there that would make her special. most of these 'successes' are bipartisan 'achievements and or on accounts of act party. i give her the electorate seat as an achievement. what has she achieved OUTSIDE of government?

@amjadt25 the Muslim Brotherhood are the inbred violent madrassas 'educated' cousins of the so called 'moderate' muslims. and it matters not where you expulse them too, their root lives in the mosques and madrassas of the islamic world.

You negotiate with terrorists. We do not. In the UAE, we don’t negotiate with terrorists we ban them, we eliminate them. To Washington, to the EU, to NATO, to Israel do whatever you need to do. The Islamic regime in Iran and its terrorist network must go. BTW..The Muslim Brotherhood and the IRGC are designated as terrorist threats in the UAE. Yet in the UK, the Muslim Brotherhood is not banned, and the IRGC has long faced hesitation in being fully proscribed. That is the difference. We act. Others debate.

@KieraDiss I smell shite Royal Holloway, University of London does not have a public daily call to prayer (Adhan) broadcast across campus. However, it provides dedicated facilities, including a Muslim Prayer Room in Wetton's Annexe with ablution facilities.

SUNDAY MORNING CALL ON UNIVERSITY CAMPUS Imagine waking up to this on a Sunday morning. The student at Royal Holloway University of London who posted this was not impressed. We used to hear church bells on Sundays. Now we have Islamic prayer.

Endometriosis South Coast insisted that it was “scientifically inaccurate” to suggest endometriosis was a condition that only affected women. It’s worrying that an organisation set up to support endometriosis sufferers doesn’t know which sex suffers from the condition 🎁in reply

1. It remains fascinating — and deeply disturbing — that puberty blockers and irreversible surgeries on minors are sold to the public under the banner of “kindness and compassion.” The evidence shows the opposite: these are experimental interventions with weak benefits and devastating lifelong costs. 2. The UK’s independent Cass Review found the entire evidence base “remarkably weak.” No proven reduction in suicide or mental illness. But very real harms: sterility, loss of sexual function, osteoporosis, and a growing wave of detransitioners. NZ’s own Ministry of Health review said exactly the same thing — which is why the government moved to halt new prescriptions in 2025. 3. Yet @nzherald is still running pieces framing basic caution as a “dangerous precedent” by politicians overriding doctors. Why is this experimental harm still being normalised in New Zealand’s biggest paper? 4. And @NewZealandMFA — why is our Foreign Ministry pushing gender ideology and SOGI policies overseas when the UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway and now NZ’s own evidence all point the same way: therapy first, not fast-track medicalisation? Enough. Real compassion protects kids from irreversible damage. Evidence over ideology. Protect NZ children. #CassReview #LetKidsBeKids #NZPolitics

I worked in this building in the 80's when it was first built. We were on the first floor. It is one of the few floors that is the whole width of the building. I believe Little is throwing his toys over nothing. It has a balcony too.

@BarreMargaret Good grief...as a principal, you said that with your full chest? Was your favourite part of the curriculum Catholic "Bigotry"? ps your post is disgraceful. Thankfully our Catholic schools have evolved beyond the many aging bigots who used to run them.
