Trend I'm noticing: - Early 20 something leaves corporate job / college - Builds a content biz or micro SaaS - After 6-18 months has enough income to support lifestyle - Realizes it's more fun+meaningful to work on big problems with smart people - Joins high growth startup

@shashvatshukla Make sense. Working around previous design choices takes time too, right? What's the difference you see between the two?

One thing I've heard repeatedly is that writing "good" or "maintainable" code takes longer. I understand "good" and "maintainable" are vague terms. Interpreting them in whatever way makes sense, what specifically takes more time for writing better code than worse code?

How did we go from “Frontend is not for “”””real”””” developers, it’s too easy” to “I’m not touching any of that with a kilometer long pole, you cannot pay me enough for configuring useEffect in webpack or whatever” ?

Kubernetes is a novel form of hybrid psyop/Stuxnet-like worm designed by Google to destroy startups. I do agree with the pragmatic lock-in part.

@amasad Strongly disagree — that would prevent the ability to change your mind. Never want to back yourself into a corner and leave one option of doubling down on a mistake

"We need to avoid making computer science look like pure mathematics: our primary standard for acceptance should be experience in the real world, not aesthetics." – R.W. Hamming, in his 1968 Turing Award Lecture.
