The Alpha Playtest is now live. This weekend is the first time we're letting people outside of our immediate circle into the game. It's a big moment for us, and we couldn't be more grateful for all of you and the support you've shown.

The Free Speech Union
The Free Speech Union@SpeechUnion·
Parliament voted to abolish blasphemy laws in 2008. Now the Government appears to be reviving them — but only to protect Islam. The new de facto Islamic blasphemy law poses a serious threat to free speech, silencing legitimate criticism of Islam and deterring people from speaking out about issues such as grooming gangs and Islamist extremism. In a free society, no religion should be shielded from debate or granted special protection from criticism. The UK already has robust laws protecting people of all faiths — including Muslims — from discrimination and hate. The Free Speech Union is mounting a legal challenge to stop the Government bringing back blasphemy laws through the back door. This is one of the biggest fights in our six-year history, and we need your support. If you can, please consider donating to our crowdfunder below to help defend free speech and the right to criticise religion in Britain 👇

📣🚨The Free Speech Union is mounting a legal challenge against the Government over its official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as 'anti-Muslim hatred' — and its appointment of a new 'tsar' to punish people who fall foul of it. This amounts to a Muslim blasphemy law via the back door. The definition is vague and subjective, and will be weaponised to silence legitimate criticism and debate about Islam, Muslims, and Islamic practices and history. The FSU’s General Secretary, Lord Young of Acton, said: “This is the most serious threat to free speech the Government has come up with so far — the only area in which it’s achieving any success. “If we don’t win this fight, tens of thousands of people a year could lose their jobs at the say-so of a Labour-appointed ‘tsar’. It’s dystopian.” Public bodies will adopt this definition — despite it being non-statutory — with the same zeal the police have shown in investigating and recording non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs). It is predicted by one of the drafters of the definition that it could lead to around 20,000 reports of 'anti-Muslim hostility' a year. At present, the number of recorded anti-Muslim hate crimes is around 4,000. In a free society, no religion should be shielded from legitimate criticism. This proposal places one faith above the rest. The Free Speech Union is bringing a legal challenge on two grounds. First, the definition relies on nebulous, legally undefined terms such as “negative and prejudicial stereotyping of Muslims”, making it incoherent and irrational — and ripe for weaponisation. Second, adopting such a definition cuts across legislation already enacted by Parliament and therefore breaches the public law principle known as “occupying the field”. Under this established public law doctrine, new regulations, put in place by ministers, must not replace existing legislation. It is constitutionally unlawful. In this case, the body responsible for protecting Muslims from discrimination is the Equality and Human Rights Commission, not an anti-Muslim hostility 'tsar'. Parliament voted to abolish blasphemy laws 18 years ago. We can't let this Government resurrect them via the back door. This is one of the biggest battles the Free Speech Union has ever taken on in its six years — and we need your help. Judicial reviews are expensive, but this is a fight we felt we had to take on. I’m all for free speech but pushing the offensive, misinformed and deeply patronising narrative that the uprisings in Iran in 100+ cities are “Israeli and American led” is what is getting people killed on the streets of Iran. Every word of what @AlinejadMasih is saying here.
Masih Alinejad 🏳️@AlinejadMasih

How dare you? Millions of us Iranians are in total darkness. The internet is shut down. People being killed and from the safety of the free world, you go on international media to repeat accusations the regime uses to kill them. That’s not analysis. That’s fuel. @piersmorgan

🚨News of the horrendous crimes against humanity in Iran over the last 48 hours. 🚨 An estimated 7,000 killed by regime forces. Western outlets and human rights groups outside the country put it at 650 but news from inside have it closer to the number above. Many of them young girls and teenagers, I’ve seen the videos and they are too horrific to share. Yet STILL they are out on the streets in massive numbers. This situation is unprecedented. The most remarkable story of revolution I’ve ever seen. Berlin Wall 1989 comes close - and I was there - but this is different. Very different. The people on the streets are ordinary civilians, some of them sick, some even in wheel chairs. But the majority are young and they are fighting with all they have. And if they’re to have any kind of life ahead of them, they know there’s no way back from this. It’s a war of attrition never seen before with little to compare it to. In layman’s terms it’s do or die. With 5 days of internet shut down and black outs so the regime can kill at will, it’s time for us to speak up. The world needs to act. We are on the precipice of something seismic. #IranRevoIution2026

Yesterday a quasi-judicial body in Italy fined @Cloudflare $17 million for failing to go along with their scheme to censor the Internet. The scheme, which even the EU has called concerning, required us within a mere 30 minutes of notification to fully censor from the Internet any sites a shadowy cabal of European media elites deemed against their interests. No judicial oversight. No due process. No appeal. No transparency. It required us to not just remove customers, but also censor our 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver meaning it risked blacking out any site on the Internet. And it required us not just to censor the content in Italy but globally. In other words, Italy insists a shadowy, European media cabal should be able to dictate what is and is not allowed online. That, of course, is DISGUSTING and even before yesterday’s fine we had multiple legal challenges pending against the underlying scheme. We, of course, will now fight the unjust fine. Not just because it’s wrong for us but because it is wrong for democratic values. In addition, we are considering the following actions: 1) discontinuing the millions of dollars in pro bono cyber security services we are providing the upcoming Milano-Cortina Olympics; 2) discontinuing Cloudflare’s Free cyber security services for any Italy-based users; 3) removing all servers from Italian cities; and 4) terminating all plans to build an Italian Cloudflare office or make any investments in the country. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. While there are things I would handle differently than the current U.S. administration, I appreciate @JDVance taking a leadership role in recognizing this type of regulation is a fundamental unfair trade issue that also threatens democratic values. And in this case @ElonMusk is right: #FreeSpeech is critical and under attack from an out-of-touch cabal of very disturbed European policy makers. I will be in DC first thing next week to discuss this with U.S. administration officials and I’ll be meeting with the IOC in Lausanne shortly after to outline the risk to the Olympic Games if @Cloudflare withdraws our cyber security protection. In the meantime, we remain happy to discuss this with Italian government officials who, so far, have been unwilling to engage beyond issuing fines. We believe Italy, like all countries, has a right to regulate the content on networks inside its borders. But they must do so following the Rule of Law and principles of Due Process. And Italy certainly has no right to regulate what is and is not allowed on the Internet in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Brazil, India or anywhere outside its borders. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FIGHT AND WE WILL WIN!!!

It is madness to put our brave veterans in the dock for serving our country, at the same time the PM plans to deploy troops in Ukraine. Starmer should pull the Northern Ireland Veterans Bill, and put British interest first. We will always stand up for our veterans.
