Our Journey to Launch formally came to an end yesterday (18 February 2026). It’s not the conclusion we hoped for, but we remain incredibly proud of everything we accomplished together at Orbex - the milestones we reached, the challenges we overcame, and the ambition we poured into every step of this journey. The talented Orbex Team will now take their expertise and passion into new roles and adventures. We couldn’t be prouder of each and every person who contributed to this chapter – Orbex and Prime will forever be part of the UK Space Story. The Team’s work, dedication, and spirit are the legacy of Orbex. To ensure that Orbex and Prime are never forgotten, we are delighted to share that Baby Orbex Prime has found a new home at Morayvia Aviation Museum in Kinloss, where it will be on display from 28 March 2026. We hope you’ll visit and support this fantastic charity. We have also donated Engine Chambers to the @sciencemuseum in London and the National Museum of Scotland and another Baby Orbex Prime will be heading to the Aberdeen Science Centre. Thank you to all the organisations for their support and interest in continuing to tell our story. We are proud to share a photo of our fully assembled Payload and Avionics Module (PAM), which was being prepared for final stage tests and first flight. Again, this demonstrates the progress we had made towards our first launch. The Payload and Avionics Module is the structural element that houses the Avionics and Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) modules and harnesses required for Stage-2 of the Prime Launch Vehicle, including the RF antennas used for communication. The structure is made of carbon composite and is extremely light weight. It serves as the interface between the Stage-2 tank, the Payload Fairing and houses the separation mechanisms. The Payload deck, which is a honeycomb sandwich construction on top of the PAM serves as the platform for the payloads to be launched. The PAM features a dense-packaging of Avionics and includes thermal management to ensure acceptable operating conditions for the modules, which are mounted onto the PAM. The modules are mounted on the interior surface of the PAM with aerothermal protection for the antennas being provided by cork patches located on the exterior. #PAM #OrbexTech #SpaceInnovation

Today we released new, unseen photographs of the microlauncher, Orbex Prime. With the company on the cusp of entering administration, we have chosen to share unique photography of Prime being assembled, highlighting the main structural components of the launch vehicle in near-flight configuration. Orbex today announced that it is in the process of appointing administrators after fundraising, merger and acquisition opportunities all concluded unsuccessfully. Orbex has filed a Notice of Intention to Appointment Administrators and will continue trading while all options for the future of the company are explored, including potential sale of all or parts of its business or assets. We had a great reaction to our engine test video last week, so, here's a peak at our Prime launch vehicle hardware — a real testament to the skill of our team as we near the first test launch next year. We are preparing every element of the vehicle, with much of the hardware ready now, and the rest in production, or test. We purposefully included innovation and novelty in the design of Prime, this brought many challenges for us to overcome, and we are now realising the design in physical form. Last week, our Chief of Structures, Jesus San Juan, joined the “Enabling Synergies: FLPP’s Role in Linking the Value Chain” panel at the @esa Future Space Transportation Autumn Session - an important event hosted by ESA’s Directorate of Space Transportation in the lead-up to the ESA Ministerial Council (CM25) in 2025. Jesus discussed how Orbex is delivering dedicated, flexible, and sustainable orbital launch services, and highlighted our disruptive technologies in structural optimisation - including Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) structures using Rapid Tow Shearing (RTS), lattice structures, and linerless composite overwrapped pressure vessels (Type V COPVs). He also shared innovations in shockless separation systems for fairing and staging, mass-optimised propellant tanks made from high-performance stainless-steel alloys, and advanced welding techniques. Orbex’s focus on reutilisation technologies — such as landing leg structures, embedded FBG sensors, and integrated cooling systems — highlighting the need for rapid subcontractor support, continued ESA test and flight demonstration opportunities, and our wider contribution to advancing Europe’s access to space.
