Our phones know where we sleep, what we search for at 2am, and who we stop talking to. We're forced to subscribe to our toothbrushes. Our lawnmowers. Our refrigerators. Our cars. Our feeds know our anxieties, our preferences, and our deepest convictions. And all of this data – this intimate record of our lived experiences – somehow doesn’t even belong to us. Worse: it isn’t being used to make our lives better. It’s being used to make someone else richer at our expense. We need tech that protects us as aggressively as today’s platforms extract from us. And those builders need funding. 💚

The system's still running, but it's stopped producing the thing it was supposed to produce: shared prosperity in return for inputted effort. That's a value function problem. We know of a number of projects were using OrbitDB for their storage requirements. OrbitDB is now better than ever, is easy to integrate and provides a number of powerful new features.

Here is what happens when you try and deactivate a suspended account from Twitter (X)... Be very careful of centralized applications. You DO NOT OWN THE DATA. With an OrbtDB-powered app, local first and fully peer-to-peer, you own and fully control the data.

We're seeing too much of this. Centralization is too unreliable. Users need to move their data back to their own infrastructure and distribute it through decentralized architecture.

@ErikVoorhees @orbit_db has provided a theoretical solution to this by isolating the Windows PC from the network and then relaying the data between two intermediaries.

@ErikVoorhees The problem is that the OS, I.e. Windows, controls encryption. We're seeing PCs data mining locally and then sending information back to centralized servers. When OS is controlled by an external entity, local encryption doesn't matter.

"Every major AI platform — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity — stores your conversations on centralized servers. That data can be reviewed, classified, subpoenaed, hacked, or sold. You're trusting the company, its employees, its vendors, and every government that asks. Venice is architecturally different. Prompts are not stored server-side. Chat history lives in the user's browser. And as of March 18, 2026, Venice offers something no other AI platform does: verifiable encryption."
