Panuwat Srisamran, another PhD student, explained: “It was a good chance to meet and get to know a new younger of generation researchers. We also had the chance to explore the Dublin city and pay a visit to Trinity College where we saw the Book of Kells and the Long Room.”

Martin Buckthorpe, a PhD student, said: “The trip was a great opportunity to broaden my understanding of photonics. There was a poster session on the Friday where all students were invited to present a poster of their work, too.”

In July a number of our PhD students attended the 2023 Siegman International School on Lasers run by @OpticaWorldwide in Dublin. During the week there were a number of lecture courses covering different areas of lasers and photonics.
