But there's a tradeoff. If the code has a bug, there's no customer service to call. What gets deployed is what runs. Forever. Smart contracts replaced "trust the person" with "trust the code." That's powerful and risky.

Ever used a vending machine? Put money in, make a selection, get the item. No negotiation. No trust needed. That's basically what a smart contract is - except it lives on a blockchain.
