I believe you've captured an accurate interpretation. The amount of cardiomyocyte death we see by our sensitive markers is negligible and certainly not equivalent to the "frightening" elevated troponin levels observed after extreme physical effort.
Troponin elevation is commonly observed after strenuous exercise. Despite significant elevation post marathon (TnI 80-2000ng/L) this study found cardiomyocyte necrosis (detected with cfDNA) was very rare, suggesting troponin is released without cell death. cell.com/cell-reports-m…
