In answer to the question, I believe it's a new mechanism for developers to pay up front, potentially before the full impact of their plans are known, which will mean that our essential, inspiring and precious wildlife will, more often than not, be the loser

@DefraGovUK @NaturalEngland Don't believe the hype. Nature and people will lose. Communities will be further deprived of nature. Why is Govt so anti-nature? Did ministers not see enough butterflies & wildflowers when they were young? Why are they depriving future generations? Welcome to the concrete jungle

Beggars belief that Govt is choosing to make so many enemies by its reckless attacks on the natural world. We’re a nation of nature lovers -yet ministers are taking a wrecking ball to vital nature protections, which will simply alienate more voters & do nothing for growth - why?

📢 NATURE ON THE BRINK 😟🌍 This Christmas could be a nightmare for nature - the UK Government is about to roll back key environmental protections that were supposed to help wildlife thrive. Find out more: wildlifetrusts.org/news/nightmare…

The nightmare before Christmas continues. New UK planning changes weaken Biodiversity Net Gain, exempting around 60% of applications from creating wildlife habitat. CEO @CraigBennett3 warns this breaks manifesto promises. Watch @BBCNews at 22:50 👇 bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

I don't get it...why is the Government so anti-nature? We're witnessing nothing short of the sanctioning of nature-vandalism on an unprecedented & devastating scale. Please call out the Government before the bulldozers arrive on your doorstep to destroy the wildlife that you love

Great to hear a senior politician debunking the myth that newts and bats are a block on development. I hope you're listening @RachelReevesMP and work constructively to ensure that the right houses in the right places deliver for people and nature
The Wildlife Trusts@WildlifeTrusts

The truth about bats, newts and development is getting out there... and it's not what the Chancellor claimed. Recent report from The Wildlife Trusts showed that bats and newts were referenced in only 3% of planning appeals: wildlifetrusts.org/news/wildlife-…

Exquisite Scarlett Tiger Moths in the garden today. Many flying around strongly, more than I've ever seen, and sadly one found dead which gave an opportunity to admire its beauty 😍#30DaysWild

Around a dozen of what I think are ladybird larvae are on our gate post this morning. They're incredible looking and it's amazing to think about what they become. Great news for our garden, not such good news if you're an aphid! #30DaysWild

Achieving nature recovery will require hard work, collaboration and more than a little vision and imagination. This project, led by @Nottswildlife @DerbysWildlife is an important part of imaging a wilder future, where species that should be in our landscape, once more roam free
