@MrTCHarris What would be a victory, that other country taking over Southern Lebanon? Paying to go through the Strait of Hormuz?

I get why people might have opposed America's war on Iran. But surely, now that it's underway, sensible Brits should be hoping for an American victory?

Just a hunch, but perhaps the Church might acknowledge that Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians have always been totally free to practise their faith; might stop regurgitating its own patented blood libels about Jewish “atrocities” committed by others; and might state that since Jesus was a Jew from Judea, it’s a malicious lie to claim that the indigenous Jews are now in “illegal occupation” of their own historic homeland.
Humza Yousaf@HumzaYousaf

Just a hunch, but instead of an Easter message, perhaps Christians would prefer you stopped killing them, stopped bombing their Churches, stopped preventing their clergy and congregations from attending their Holy Sites and stopped illegally occupying the birth place of Christ?

In Tehran today, Iranian Christians gathered for Easter at Saint Sarkis Cathedral. Iran has one of the oldest continuous Christian communities in the world — over 2,000 years old. These are the people that Trump wants to bomb “back to Stone Age.”

@melaniewilson26 @treekahlo @Edwina_Currie Also, no part time working in my job, my son was born in 1987 and I had to resign after maternity leave as they didn’t have part time work in the company, not many did, if any. Other than working in shops on low hours and little pay, or cleaning operatives.

@melaniewilson26 @treekahlo @Edwina_Currie We also didn’t have the right to a private pension, credit, your husband had to sign for you. Childcare. I agree things are hard for the younger generation too, two wrongs don’t make a right and neither is at fault, so I would prefer if they would stop blaming the Boomers.

And still no one wants to tackle the problem. The problem is population growth and it is not Brit’s having more kids... 17m new people in 30 years. So if there is a lack of housing it’s because there are 17m more people. Real Wages decreased because of migration. An endless flow of people to come in an do the lowest paid jobs which means the price of that job never rises. Longer NHS waiting lists because there are 17m more users. I am not anti immigration of skilled, happy, willing to work people. But there are 2m foreign born people on benefits which mean they occupy housing, have kids which occupy schools and hospitals. Low skilled migration has to end. Those jobs are going and going fast.

There’s a lot of anger right now between young and old over pensions. Young people say it’s unfair. Older people say they’ve earned it. Both are right. And both are blaming the wrong people. The real problem isn’t pensioners. And it isn’t young people either. It’s the system. Let’s be honest. It is FAR harder to get on the property ladder today than it was in the 90s and early 2000s. Not because of interest rates. But because of access to credit. Before 2008: 100% mortgages. Sometimes even 110%. Minimal checks. Easy approvals. That’s what let people get on the ladder. It also helped push prices to insane levels. Now? Huge deposits. Strict income checks. Low borrowing limits. The drawbridge has been pulled up. No amount of “skip Netflix and coffee” is getting someone on £38k onto the ladder in the South East. That argument is nonsense. But forcing pensioners to sell their homes after a lifetime of work? That’s just as wrong. So we end up with both sides fighting each other… While the real issue goes untouched. There are only two ways out: More access to credit Or lower house prices (Or both) And here’s the uncomfortable truth no one wants to say: More people = more demand More demand = higher prices If we don’t deal with that, nothing changes. Blaming each other won’t fix this. Fixing the system will.
