I wanted to understand Bash piping better, so I decided to use AI for this purpose. I asked it to explain the concept of bash scripting, which it did perfectly. To gain a better understanding, I used it to tackle a piping challenge: ps aux | grep 'bash' | wc -l.

I chose this method because I learn best by seeing and doing. Visual prompts and code experiments stick better than reading blocks of text. Using AI this way is helping me grow faster. #ALX_BE @alxafrica #VisualLearner #AIforLearning

So I followed up by asking, "What happens if I remove the on: push trigger or change it to workflow_dispatch?” This helped me understand the logic, not just follow a tutorial. I did the same for every other thing I did not understand well.

I asked ChatGPT to walk me through GitHub Actions workflows step-by-step, and then I drew out the process like a flowchart Example prompt I used today: “Explain this GitHub Actions workflow line by line" It noted that I could replace the on: push trigger with workflow_dispatch

However, it is very important to note that using AI as your go-to tool for generating solutions that you do not even understand whenever you run into any challenge, would only harm your learning process. Learning is not a comfortable process. #ALX_BE @alx_africa #AIforbeginners

For a beginner like me, I think the trick is to treat it like a learning partner and write prompts in a conversational manner.

One thing I've learned recently is that you don't need to be a genius to leverage AI as a learning partner, you just need to be good at communicating with it. AI is such a powerful tutor when used correctly.

i’ve gotten a lot of questions like this, i’ll be honest, this is how i made my way into faang and others CV - Use the STAR method to structure every sentence that goes on it. OA & Technical Interview - Just do 2/3 Leetcode questions a day for 3 months ish (Blind 75 etc) Behavioural Interview - Differs by company, but work on communication by speaking to yourself in the mirror. Also having 2/3 projects on your CV that displays strong technical skills. I have about 2 strong previous experience and 1 project on mine. LMK if you’d like to see my CV.
