Be aware that while $6 million sounds like a lot, if you take that over 30 years (standard for Powerball and other lottery games), you'd get $90,000 the first year, and then it would grow 5% per year thereafter. Also bear in mind that if you purchase insurance for yourself directly, this may cost like $30,000. So you'd essentially be locking in a $60,000 per year job (you would have 5% annual increases, so you'd definitely keep up with inflation and such). Suddenly, the $6 million payment doesn't sound that life-changing.
