Got a comment yesterday: "You must have worked crazy hours to hit 6 figures!"
Honest answer: yes and no
Yes; I worked hard the first 2 years. Long days, weekends, taking any client who'd pay me
But I didn't scale by working more, but by working less
Year 1: $25k or so, working 50-60 hrs/week doing everything myself; design, copy, sales, invoicing, revisions...
Year 3: $105k working 30-35 hrs/week
What changed? I hired several contractors, both for execution and for project management
Meanwhile I focused on sales and strategy
Less work, more money and more free time, instantly. Best decision I've ever made
As an employee, the math is: more hours = more money
As a business owner, the math is: more leverage = more money = less work
Most freelancers never make that jump. They hit $60k, $80k, $100k... and plateau
Look, you can't scale yourself. You can only scale systems
So you better have that in mind when you start working on a business
