🔻Thinking a lot about Rahmeh this morning. I'm sure many people think she should have been more cautious, flew too close to the edge. Although the repression we've faced is on different scales, I can totally empathise with how she's acted. It does not even feel like a choice. Exercising caution, submitting to a system which is annihilating her people is impossible. Her defiance, like the defiance of the resistance in Palestine, is the only way Palestine will be liberated. Qur'an 20:72 I would do it all over again. Everything I did was to save the lives of the Palestinian people being murdered by the jewish occupation. Thinking of this heart-rending anecdote as I look at pictures of the Palestinian infant Israeli soldiers tortured with lit cigarettes. "They have this sort of protocol, for lack of a better word, of making sure that they terrorize Palestinian children early. They believe that they have to instill fear from a young age, so they grow up fearing Israelis, & fearing Jews in general, & that's how they control them. اليوم أجّل ترمب ضرب الطاقة في إيران خوفًا على حركة أسعار السوق الأمريكية، لكنه يرى مجتمعات الخليج منذ أكثر من عشرين يومًا وهي تحت الصواريخ الإيرانية واقتصاديات الخليج تتضرر بعشرات المليارات ولم يجعله ذلك يغير شيئًا من قراراته! حين حذر وزير الطاقة القطري نظيره الأمريكي بأن ضرب حقل الغاز في إيران سيؤدي إلى ضرب حقول الغاز في الخليج، لم يهتموا بذلك، وضربوا إيران وتركوا دول الخليج تواجه مصيرها أمام صواريخ إيران! لم يستفيدوا أي مكسب استراتيجي من ضرب غاز إيران، لكنهم في المقابل تسببوا في خسائر هائلة في قطاع الطاقة في الخليج، وكل خسائر الخليج من الغاز تصب في صالح شركات الغاز الأمريكية! لا يتحدث ترمب إلا عن مضيق هرمز وسعر النفط، أما مجتمعات الخليج فلا تساوي عنده برميل نفط! من الذي لا يزال يشك أن هدف الحرب ليس إسقاط النظام الإيراني فقط، بل إسقاط الخليج كذلك! رغبة استنزاف الخليج وزجه في معركة مباشرة مع إيران لم تكن خافية، فالمسؤولون الأمريكيون والإسرائيليون يكررون الحديث أن دول الخليج مشاركة في الحرب، ما هدف هذه التصريحات؟ وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية تنشر صور إطلاق الصواريخ من الخليج؟ ما هدف ذلك؟ ليندسي غراهام يهدد الخليج إذا لم يشارك في الحرب! لماذا يريد أن يشارك الخليج؟ هل أمريكا تنقصها قدرات عسكرية لا سمح الله؟ الهدف من ذلك كله هو ضرب عصفورين بحجر، إسقاط النظام في إيران وإسقاط النموذج الخليجي وإنهاكه واستنزافه، كل ذلك تمهيدًا للتغييرات القادمة في المنطقة. هل لاحظت أن المسؤولين الإسرائيليين _بما في ذلك نتنياهو_ يكررون أنهم بصدد "إعادة تشكيل شرق أوسط جديد"؟ ما معنى شرق أوسط جديد؟ إذا كان هدفهم إيران فقط، فالمفترض أن يقولوا: "إيران جديدة" وليس "شرق أوسط جديد"! أليس الخليج جزءًا من الشرق الأوسط، فماذا يعني إذن إعادة تشكيله؟ هذا يعني أن إسقاط إيران هو بداية المشروع وليس نهايته، الخطوة الأولى هي إسقاط النظام في إيران، أما الخطوة الثانية فاسأل نفسك أين ستكون. حين لا تعجبنا بعض الحقائق، نتظاهر بأننا لا نفهمها، أو حتى لا نسمعها، حين تحدث الصهاينة عن فكرة "إسرائيل الكبرى" قلنا: هذه مجرد أساطير دينية. وحين قالها بعض وزراء نتنياهو قلنا: هؤلاء مجرد يمين متطرف! وحين قالها نتنياهو نفسه وأشار إليها في خريطة قلنا: لكنها غير واقعية! "إسرائيل الكبرى" ليست مشروعًا يُخطط له، هو مشروع يُنفّذ، ومحاولة التغافل عن ذلك لا تلغي المشروع، بل تعجّل بتحقيقه. - أما إيران فهي ليست بعيدة عن منطق أمريكا في التعامل مع الخليج، هي كذلك تريد استنزافه وإنهاكه، وليست القواعد الأمريكية سوى حجة تحتج بها لفعل ما هو أكبر، لو كانت المشكلة في القواعد حصرًا لرأينا صواريخ إيران لا تتجه إلا إليها، لكن كيف نفسر استهداف مخازن المياه في الخليج؟ كيف نفسر استهداف المدينة التعليمية مثلاً؟ ولا نجد البطش الإيراني في الخليج حاضرًا في دول أخرى تتوافر فيها نفس الحجة، أذربيجان مثلاً فيها قاعدة إسرائيلية وليس أمريكية فحسب، ومع ذلك، ماذا كان نصيب أذربيجان من هذه الصواريخ؟ لماذا لا تستهدف إيران أنابيب الغاز الأذربيجانية التي تغذي ثلث موارد إسرائيل من الغاز؟ إن أخشى ما أخشاه الآن هو أن خروج إيران من منطق الدفاع إلى منطق الانتقام سيدفع المنطقة لاصطفافات سيئة، وسيعطي مشروعية لإدماج إسرائيل علنًا في المنظومة الأمنية والعسكرية الخليجية بحجة الخطر الإيراني، وهذه أكبر كارثة. على إيران أن تقارن بين مكاسب ضرباتها الحالية وبين خسائر إسهامها الآن في دفع المنطقة لاختيارات خاطئة تضر الخليج وإيران معًا لعقود طويلة. فمثلا حين قصفت إسرائيل قنصلية إيران في سوريا، لماذا لم ترد إيران حينها بحجة "الدفاع عن النفس"؟ كانت توازن مكاسبها وخسائرها، والأمر نفسه أقول إنه ينطبق على حالها الآن مع دول الخليج، فقط لو فكرت إيران خارج حساباتها الآنية. أخيرًا علينا أن ندرك جميعًا أن المؤشرات تدل على أننا نعيش المرحلة الأخيرة من الهيمنة الأمريكية، وأن هذه الحرب بالنسبة لأمريكا هي كحرب 56 بالنسبة لبريطانيا، بداية النهاية لنفوذها في المنطقة. ولذلك السؤال الذي ينبغي أن نسأله في الخليج الآن: كيف نحوّل هذه الأزمة إلى فرصة تضمن ألا نقع مرة أخرى بين مطرقة أمريكا وسندان إيران؟

On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaykh Ahmed Yassin, it’s worth remembering that just days before his assassination, doctors treating him apparently believed he had very little time left due to the severity of his illness. By all material expectations, he was approaching a quiet death, confined to his wheelchair, his frail body finally giving way. It could’ve been framed in a sad, feeble way: a life lived in struggle quietly fading, evoking sympathy more than strength. But Allah, in His majesty and grace, had something else decreed. He reminds us in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Najm (53:39–40) that a person will have only what they strove for, and that their striving will be seen. Shaykh Ahmad Yassin’s life was one long striving lived in paralysis, imprisonment, surveillance, and constant threat. A man who couldn’t walk and could barely lift his body still moved a generation and carried a cause. Decades of effort didn’t disappear quietly into a hospital room. Allah decreed that his striving be made visible. Instead of fading away, he was killed in a moment that transformed him from a fragile, aging scholar into a lasting symbol. The contrast itself became part of the meaning. A man physically weak, yet spiritually and politically consequential, whose end didn’t come in obscurity but in a way that ensured his life’s effort would be seen. What I distinctly remember about that week was how, in the immediate aftermath, reports circulated that newborn boys across the Arab world were named Ahmad Yassin, reflecting how quickly his name shifted from a person to a symbol. Years later, that same name would appear again in the “Yassin 105,” tearing through one of the most well-equipped, well-funded, technologically advanced militaries in the world. We ask Allah to make us people of sincere striving, whose efforts aren’t limited by weakness, circumstance, or obscurity. We ask Him to grant us lives spent in pursuit of His pleasure, and to make our deeds meaningful even if our bodies are frail and our means are small.

Too many people are focused on defending Rama, who can speak for herself, instead of defending Susan Abulhawa, who was actually thrown under the bus by Mamdani. As usual, it’s Palestinians who end up paying the price. Susan Abulhawa is arguably the most well-known Palestinian author in the United States. Yet neither Mamdani nor Rama has spoken up to defend her. What makes it worse is that Rama was commissioned to create artwork for Abulhawa’s writing. Allowing your husband to publicly disparage a writer whose work you were hired to illustrate is deeply unprofessional. Especially when both Rama and Zohran were more than willing to build their careers and platforms through Palestinian spaces before turning around and distancing themselves once they made it.

This is deeply disturbing and not enough people are talking about it. Zohran Mamdani just went to the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, venerating the founder of the racist, Zionist Chabad movement. The Rebbe’s movement has a long history that should make anyone pause. In 1991 a car in his motorcade killed 7‑year-old Gavin Cato, a Black Caribbean child in Crown Heights. The first ambulance to arrive was Jewish Hatzalah, which took the Jewish driver and passengers before treating the child, who was killed by the motorcade. The Rebbe never apologized or took responsibility. Fast forward to April 2025: Chabad invited far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben‑Gvir to their Brooklyn headquarters. Outside, a mob of Orthodox men chanted “death to Arabs,” surrounded and chased a woman they thought was a protester, threatened her with rape, kicked her, hurled cones and trash cans, and another Jewish supporter of Palestine was hospitalized with a bloody head wound. Hundreds followed her for blocks before police got her to safety. Chabad-Lubavitch is actively cheering on and materially supporting the Israeli military. Branches have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the IDF, a Chabad charity in the U.K. was officially warned for buying military equipment for soldiers, and senior rabbis in Israel lobbied the government on war policies and settlements, framing military action as religiously mandated. Their “Moshiach” messaging and flags are everywhere — on Israeli tanks in Gaza and across NYC streets — signaling a messianic justification for this violence. So Mamdani is venerating the leader of a sect that: • is politically and rabidly pro-Israel, • has tolerated violent, anti-Arab racism, • never reckoned with a racist tragedy in its own motorcade, • has materially and ideologically supported military operations in Gaza. Meanwhile, he hasn’t said a word about Gaza since the ceasefire on October 10, even though around 400 Palestinians have been killed, including children and civilians. Our people are dying daily, and not a whisper.
