“No scientific justification.” “Neglects established science.” “Violated introductory economics.” The EPA’s hand-picked panel of scientists says Trump's biggest regulatory rollbacks, flub the science (and economics). By @CoralMDavenport + @LFFriedman nytimes.com/2019/12/31/cli…

@VKindopp @MikeHudema @GretaThunberg If I can do it, polities of municipalities and up certainly can. I live in 43 degrees(43.17) lat. and I do it. It just takes will...and engineering. Will and engineering.

@MikeHudema @GretaThunberg So it takes a million solar panels and 535 wind turbines to run the lights in Ikea stores. Imagine what it would take to run an industry or country.

@PeterGleick I hashed[no pun intended] this out with arcane computer code in 1997-1999. When people say that there was no catastrophic crash in Y2K, I always tell them they're right. I can give you whatever year you like. The cost will vary accordingly.

@SashaSagan Sorry to have missed the day, but belatedly.. your dad lives on in both works and in minds. I had a "billions and billions of Carl Sagans" t-shirt as an undergrad circa 1980. Your dad remains truly star stuff.

Today would be my dad’s 85th birthday. It means a lot to know how many people miss him and love him. I’m so grateful to everyone out there keeping his flame burning brightly. I wish he were still here and I know you do too. #carlsaganday

As Trump formally pulls the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement, two new reports underscore just how critical national commitments are to meeting key targets that forestall the worst effects of climate change. bit.ly/32nUJXo

@BeCO2Neutral @insideclimate Thanks much for the alert. I would have missed the piece until I circled back to @insideclimate even though I follow here.* Way too much to keep track of...and most isn't good. *That might have taken a month. Life, you know..

@DroolGibbons @Carbongate I wouldn't expect a cogent, scientific response to that information. Thais account has the scientific acumen of, well, a non-scientific specimen. You beat me to it by a few days. I don't come on Twitter very often, as it's too tribal for my extended viewing pleasure.

@napowered I understand that not everyone can do this due to lack of capacity at present. However, calling your utility, or better yet writing, to them and asking why they don't offer renewable electricity, can help move the needle. Everything helps - and everything and everyone are needed.

PSA: You might be able to purchase 100% renewable electron juice from your utility for a pittance more than that generated from climate killing fuels. The usual "call to confirm sources" disclaimer applies. Here's @napowered's rate comparison for me. napower.com

@ScienceNotDogma @climateunion I'm in the process of seeing how the feds see how viable income tax protests might be. I am delinquent by conscious decision. Protesting the current ways of life will vary among people. I am committed - the US Gov't may find I should BE committed 😆. It'll be fun. I hope.

@ScienceNotDogma @climateunion Good call. I am only able to tread lightly because of the choices I have made *over time.* It's a long, fairly arduous process due to having to buck the systems at every point. Societal norms - oy vey. Emission shaming has no place in the dialogue save for being countered.

@Outlander_STARZ What do we lose when wetlands disappear? To many, drainage has been viewed as improvement, taming the land, coaxing it to give more whether it be food or fuel. But the rerouting of water means that for most of us, our lives are dominated by drylands now. Sense of place lost. 4/
