@mattsekeres The new management won't be doing dumb things like selling low on a guy at his rock bottom.
English

No. Had all this time to seek Sedins’ counsel & work through his problems. But just wanted to be left alone.
Let another team try & reach him.
Sekeres and Price@sekeresandprice
Does Elias Pettersson deserve another ‘clean slate?’ #Canucks
English

@SadClubCommish Adding 6kg is the worst move for him...he should fire all his trainers who suggested it.
English

@overscaled @nucks0 he has quit, for 3 seasons now, ink dried on contract, stopped playing
English

@8394Canucks What we did the best in the past was keep selling low…why not let’s do one more time.
English

Been saying this for a while: yell at me all you want about the costs of retention, they will never outweigh the costs of having a deeply unhappy, unmotivated and underperforming star player with an inflated contract, dragging down your room while you try to rebuild.
#Canucks
Dominic Šramaty@DomSramaty
I agree with @RJHenderson7. This team can’t move on to the next chapter as long as 40 is still on the roster. His contract is too much of a distraction now that he isn’t the game-breaker he was signed to be. Both parties would benefit from a split.
English

@princessrica84 If it’s after, that’s the second most self centred things to do as a pro hockey player.

I've been trading options for over 10 years. LEAPs changed everything.
What they are:
- Long-term options expiring 1-2 years out
- You control 100 shares for a fraction of the cost
- Leveraged exposure, not the same as owning shares
How I use them:
- Strike depends on conviction. Deep ITM for safer plays, ATM or one strike OTM for higher upside.
- 12+ months to expiration minimum.
- High conviction names with a 1-2 year thesis.
- Never more than 10-15% of my portfolio.
Why they work:
- Less capital than buying shares outright
- More time for the thesis to play out
- Theta decay is slow at 12+ months out
- Frees up cash for CSPs and other positions
What nobody tells you:
- You can lose the entire premium
- A 20% stock drop can mean 40-50% LEAP loss
- They have an expiration date. Shares don't.
- Low volume strikes have wide spreads. Be patient on fills.

@Conditional1st Petey’s first 82 games under Tocc was hotter than Zegras.
English

Need a case study on why Trevor Zegras is having success under Rick Tocchet while other skill guys haven’t
NHL News@PuckReportNHL
Trevor Zegras is on hatty watch already, just 3:38 into the game in NJ. He has a career-high 25 goals and is just 1 point away from matching his career best of 65. #LetsGoFlyers

@sekeresandprice @mattsekeres @justBlakePrice @Hockey_Robinson @YellowDogBeer Of course he was, quitters got to stick together.
English

"There was one player Quinn Hughes didn't mention in his comments this weekend... when you look at the rift between JT and Pettersson, it seems Quinn was on the JT side."

10 rules for profitable LEAP trades:
1. Only buy on stocks you'd own for years
2. Wait for RSI oversold on multiple timeframes
3. Buy when IV is low
4. Enter at meaningful support levels
5. 360+ days to expiration minimum
6. Cheap premium doesn't mean good deal
7. Tight spreads or skip the trade
8. Size it so you can lose it all and be fine
9. Exit plan before 60 DTE
10. A handful per year max

@Sapsterr_ Petey had a great game, got 2 points to reach the 500 point milestone. And yet, all these media guys see is o shots on net. lmao.
English

Well considering Petey was on the ice for 13 shots for and 13 scoring chances, I think that (plus the stats you laid out) would indicate that Pettersson was probably creating space and chances for his linemates opposed to being given high danger passes himself.
Someone has to pass the puck, who else is going to do it. Evander Kane?
His assist came off a shot for cryin' out loud 😭
Jeff Paterson@patersonjeff
EP40 with 2A so has had a hand in #Canucks offence, but no shots on goal. On a night Hronek has 5, DeBrusk/Kane/O'Connor each have 4 and Boeser has 3. Most of the shooters are shooting
English

Say what you want about Elias Pettersson, but 500 points in an NHL career is not something to scoff at, it's a mark to be proud of. #Canucks
English

@AndehWahl Very well said about Petey. Other than the killer instinct, he had a great game. It just feels different how he plays for the last few games. A lot of old himself flying out there.
English

Nice game from #Canucks Marco Rossi! Looks like he's getting his feet back after the injury and making smart plays out there.
Hronek is a stud.
Kane should not play over Höglander, especially after Höglander started finding his game again. This will just set him back in his confidence, believing he did something wrong when he absolutely didn't.
Pettersson needs a sports psychologist or something to get his swagger back. He obviously won't find it on his own, so something has to change around him. Psychologist, a winning season with a great team, lots of things can spark that swagger again but it's pretty obvious he won't just find it himself.
For the record, Pettersson didn't have a bad game by any means. He created a lot, was perfect defensively, was 81.8% (!?!) against mainly O'Rielly in the faceoff dot. He does all the details perfectly. What's missing is that swagger - he could have had 3 points, could have ended the game a few times, if only he had the decisiveness and belief in himself that "no matter what I do here, I'll just score".
Great contrast is to watch the Eklund goal for San Jose. That's swagger. Pettersson used to have that belief too - no matter what he does, it's gonna go in. Now it's the opposite - whatever he tries it's not gonna go in, and as long as he believes that, it's gonna stay that way.
Lastly, funny how the Preds completely coughed up this game when they need the points so bad. lol.
English

@Sportsnet650 Surprised that's from Hansen...but an offensive-minded coach matters more.
English

@SatiarShah Petey had a good game but people will still bash on him regardless.
English

@SadClubCommish Garland hasn't been driving anything since Hughes quit and hasn't scored for a very long stretch. But yes, he will be missed, along with Sherwood and Myers.
