@GabrielKrossVT @_SpyDtroid_ The time mechanic is very forgiving, if you play long enough you’ll soon realize that. There is enough time to explore, do all side quests and more. You can also simply fail and get back stronger and learn from your “mistakes”.

people wanting to get into ffxiv by skipping to the newest expac really vindicates the idea that lots of people don’t get into games to experience them anymore, they do it to be part of the conversation and whatever lets them join that conversation the fastest takes priority

Open worlds maps are empty lands, only cities are filled with ppl. This was something that let me down a bit because one world is my favorite aspect of mmos

yeah, the social aspect of MMO's is adventuring together, and not sitting in the main city yapping in the world chat while waiting for the queue to pop. Retail WoW shifted the perception of MMOs forever.
FFXIV is in an unique spot because that adventure is mostly solo and the social aspect is tied to other gameplay elements.

The people who engage with mmo's exclusively for the endgame content are core to the issue with the genre. They burn everything to get to the end game, finish it, and squeal for more content ignoring the fact that they skipped 90% of the game.
Also FFXIV is a story driven game.

Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made? Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube. Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over. At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.

The 250 hours ARE the best MMO experience.
FFXIV is about the journey, not the destination, skipping is stupid because you're essentially paying to skip the part that the game is known for lol

@snark_talks I’m playing with my gf and she skips every cs. It’s just her style, she doesn’t want to read a book while playing lol. The funny part is that she kept asking me some questions and even though I played through the entirety of the msq I could remember most things lol

Start ppl at max level and let them log into the capital city of choice to RP, as this is the main demo they've been catering to.

In 8.0 players will be able to sync all their jobs to the highest item level of equipment they own. So if you're max item level on one, you can sync your other jobs to that same ilvl #FFXIV
