Let’s just try to figure out where the confusion is coming in.
I think it’s something we covered but let’s talk about it again.
🔹 Two Different Payouts = Why There’s Confusion
1.Estate/Trust Payout (Old BBBY CUSIP)
•Those legacy BBBYQ shares didn’t just “vanish.”
•They sit in the trust as a frozen CUSIP, which represents your legal claim to bankruptcy distributions: 💵 cash + 📝 warrants tied to the NOL (net operating loss) structure.
•This is where the “rights offering” and potential Teddy angle live.
2.Equity / Float Continuity (Ticker BBBY)
•The ticker obligations (synthetic shorts, FTDs, IOUs) weren’t written against the CUSIP, they were written against the ticker BBBY.
•When Beyond flips from BYON → BBBY (Aug 29), that float stays the same. No dilution.
•Pressure comes from reconciling phantoms into a live, tradable equity.

🔹 Why Bankruptcy Rules Cause Confusion
•Bankruptcy lawyers talk in terms of CUSIPs because that’s how estates and trusts are settled.
•Traders and brokers live in the ticker world — and synthetics follow the ticker.
•Two systems, two rulebooks → easy for people to conflate the two.

•NOLs are valuable tax assets. They stay attached to the trust and CUSIP structure.
•That’s why warrants or rights offerings are a logical vehicle — they preserve the NOLs for NewCo while rewarding legacy holders.

•If Teddy (Ryan Cohen’s private vehicle) or another bidder wants the NOLs + trust assets, they need the shareholder structure intact.
