Over the past few weeks we've run bird ringing demonstrations for @oxoss_uni & @oxrestore to show interested members the monitoring we do. They were able to see a range of warbler species up close, as well as species present year-round, like this brightly coloured goldfinch.

Thank you to @OxfordRinging for a brilliant ringing demo this weekend, introducing ringing & the data it provides and showing us the beauty & details of birds in the hand!

Fantastic to listen to three OXOSS birders on @BBCOxford this morning, talking about birding in Oxford, how they got into birding & why they benefit from nature, and why they enjoy coming along to our walks!

Great to branch out and visit Farmoor Reservoir yesterday, seeing a Great Northern Diver, Great Crested Grebes and some (attempted) kleptoparasitism between a Black-headed Gull and a Little Grebe!

Our walk at Port Meadow this week had some new additions: a scope and a couple of pairs of binoculars, thanks to the brilliant @_BTO equipment donation scheme! Great to put them to good use, seeing Golden Plover, Lapwing, Dunlin, Teal and Wigeon on the floods.

Golden Plover and Wigeon flocks (with Snipe and Lapwing also around the floods) were the highlights at Port Meadow this weekend. Spirits were high on the walk, despite the blustery and rainy weather!

A fantastic find by @temiller17 on our walk at Port Meadow this weekend - a Pectoral Sandpiper! Golden Plover, Redwing, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Jay and Mistle Thrush all formed a great backdrop to the walk too!
