Atmospheric rivers amplify. You get abrupt, clustered extremes. Now drop to the surface. Vietnam is under water. Landslides, power cuts, infrastructure losses, over a million households affected. This isn’t random. Southeast Asia is sitting under the shear zone between collapsing stratospheric winds and a hyper-warm ocean basin. And the Philippines sits dead center in that convergence. High SST. High moisture. High shear. Tropical lows that spin up too fast to forecast. Terrain that funnels water into violent, narrow corridors. A regional QBO collapse overhead. A warm pool with nowhere to drain. On the planetary risk map right now, the Philippines is the most dangerous civilian environment on Earth. Not because of one storm. Because the atmospheric engine above them is broken, the ocean beneath them is overloaded, and the Pacific basin is in full asymmetry.
