Hear more about this discovery made by researchers from @UniofOxford and Birmingham incl. Professor in Micropalaentology @KirstyMEdgar, also the Chair of the Lapworth Museum Management Group, and Professor of Palaeobiology Richard Butler, previous Academic Keeper at the Museum 👇
Uni of Birmingham@unibirmingham

The teams uncovered multiple enormous trackways, dating back to the Middle Jurassic Period (around 166 million years ago). They're part of a huge ‘dinosaur highway’ & include footprints from the predator Megalosaurus & herbivorous dinosaurs twice that size. Hear from the team 👇

Wonderful footage of beavers reinforcing their dam. As ecosystem engineers they excel at building and maintaining dams. When water levels rise or damage occurs, they instinctively repair them within 24–48 hours, keeping habitats resilient and functional. All at no cost to humans.
Beaver Trust@BeaverTrust

Nature’s Rapid Response Team Witness a beaver family as they diligently maintain & reinforce a dam in response to rising water levels in their territory. Woody-leaky dams are a well-known river restoration tool for slowing water and creating habitats that benefit many species.

This #TrilobiteTuesday, one of my favorite Middle Cambrian #trilobites from Manuels River, #Newfoundland: the very rare Anopolenus henrici. Almost complete, but the genal spines (projecting back from the sides of the head) have come off; one of them is lying across the thorax.

It's really quite simple; If we had more #beavers in our landscape, we'd have fewer flooded homes and flooded businesses...

As #COP29 draws to a close in Baku, perhaps it is a good moment to be reminded that despite the complex global politics, there are practical things we can do on the ground here in England. & in acting to build resilience to climate change impacts, we can restore Nature too.

An "accidentally rewilded" 377-acre UK farm is now home to many threatened species, including turtle doves, warblers, 11 bat species, orchids + butterflies. Such examples prove how nature can recover when we let it, + that rewilding reverses nature loss. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Yes, I've shared this image before - and I'll share it again! Easily the most majestic #trilobite I've ever held in my own hands, this remarkable 34 cm long Paradoxides davidis comes from Middle #Cambrian rocks at Manuels River, #Newfoundland, #Canada. #TrilobiteTuesday

#ExploreYourArchive #EYAMystery Have you heard the tale of "The Sheldon Duck"?🦆 In 1601 a duck flew into an Ash tree and never left! Sometime later the "duck tree" was chopped down due to rot at the bottom and this fascinating imprint the size of a real duck was exposed.🌳🪓
