Then WHY Gupt Kings didn't flaunt their Brahmin caste explicitly? Because,Gupts revived&enforced Chatur-Varna system(essence of Hinduism) on their subjects,they themselves being Brahmins still continued as Kings which was inconsistent with the duties designated to Brahmin Varna!

According to the Buddhist scholar Paramartha, the Gupt king Baladitya married his sister to Vasurata who was a Brahman

..there is definitive evidence that in the Gupta times, there were Brahmins of this Gotra. In the Kurud plates of king Narendra, the done Bhasrutasvami, to whom a grant of land was made, was a Brahman of Dharana Gotra.

Gupta princess Prabhavatigupta, daughter of Chandragupt-II, mentions her Gotra as Dharana in her Poona & Riddhapur copper plate grants. Since it is not the Gotra of her husband, Rudrasena II Vakataka, which was Vishnuvriddha, Dharna must be Gotra of her paternal house – Gupt

Kadamb king Kakutsthavarman (Manavya Gotra Brahmin)gave his daughter to a Gupt king and wrote this with pride in Talgund stone inscription Guptas' multiple marriages with orthodox Brahman dynasties are most credible proof available till date to ascertain their Caste -Brahmin

Let us look at the INDISPUTED information available about caste of Imperial Guptas: ….the hand of Chanragupt-II’s daughter Prabhavati Gupta was accepted by the Brahmin King of Vishnuvriddha Gotra, Rudrasena II.

Brahmanas using "Gupt" as their surname include *Brahmgupta*, author of famous astronomical text ‘Khandakhadya’; and *Vishnugupt/Kautilya*, author of Arthshashtra. Brahmin namws ending as ‘Varman’ also occur in Kadamba Dynasty of Vanavasi, e.g.Kakutsthavarman, Santivarman etc

Being impartial Praja-Palak, Guptas didn't boast explicitly about their caste yet sufficient archeological evidence have been recovered confirming Guptas being Brahmins. The Dynasty is known as Gupt-Vansa after its progenitor Maharaja ShriGupt' name,not for being Vaishy
